The College FB Playoff Thread…powered by butthurt

Were FSU and Bama to play tomorrow, who do you put your hard earned money on in a straight up, no point spread bet? I'm guessing most bet on Alabama. Not saying that is how the game will turn out, but it does answer why FSU is out ... enough of the right people think they are not as good as Alabama or Texas.

It doesn't matter who would be favored. Either it's the 4 most deserving teams or the 4 best teams. Based on precedent, if it's most deserving...it should be UM, UW, FSU and Jexas.

If it's the 4 best, then UGA should be in based on the consensus that they'd be favored against anyone.

Haven't gone through the whole thread but just want to make sure all the FSU fans/supporters are aware of their extremely fraudulent NC from the 90s where an unbeaten WVU team wasn't selected to play for the NC and FSU finished ahead of ND, who had beaten them that year and had the same record.

Well be in Florida during the Peach and had to pass up some good tickets we were offered by a friend. I like the matchup, agree it's the best on the slate.
Think I am going to do a quick trip down to the Orange Bowl. Had the Houston money ready to go. A day of fishing, then the game. Home in time for New Year's Eve. Nice warm break in the middle of winter. Grew up in WPB so have a lot of FSU friends ... tailgating should be fun.

Can we all agree that the 12-team format will make this silly season go away? And that the ACC is a punk-ass bitch conference for preventing the 12-team format from being in place this year? That ACC commissioner had some balls to write a screed about FSU not getting in - hey, dumbass, it's your fucking fault so fuck off.

well... don't look so bad in a win in a CCG game?
All kinds of excuses on why Florida State is not in the playoffs; Their QB is hurt, they are not the best team, they won ugly, we need an SEC in there and blah blah blah blah blah ....

Arguments for Florida State being in the playoffs; They won every game they played, they are in a P5 Conference, they beat two SEC teams (both had won Championships in the past).

Oh you best believe I've brought up '93.

Honestly. That guy should resign in disgrace. He helped kill his own conference. If the SEC and B1G say the word, they're done.

So, 2 wrongs make a right? This playoffs has four teams instead of two.

First, FSU has every right to be disappointed. I get it. So does my team. No. 1 to no. 6 my ass.

All that said, nowhere in the protocols for selecting the 4 teams does it say, "if you are no. 1, you can't fall further than no. 4." Nowhere. Nowhere does it say "if you are undefeated, you get in." Nowhere. The simple fact is that the UGA, the ACC, and FSU and its leadership were fully involved in creating the rules that control the way the 4 teams are chosen. They specifically chose to use subjective criteria, not objective criteria. They even agreed to language that specifically states that the availability or lack thereof of certain players and coaches can be used to determine if a team is worthy.

So, yes, it sucks. But those are the rules they agreed to. And, had the ACC not been a bunch of dipshits a new system would have been in place this year and FSU would still be in the CFP.

So, at this point, I am done with FSU bitching. Life isn't fair. Absorb it, learn from it, and then move on.

I forgot about that.

They all panicked because Texas and OU bolted the Big 12 and accused the SEC of wanting the 12-team playoff to get more teams in. It kind of does deserve them right but it's amazing how some of these conferences have bitched about the SEC and then screwed themselves.

The biggest screw job was the "Alliance" that the B1G proposed to counter the SEC and then they turned around and killed off the PAC (their bowl partner for over 50 years).

Remember all the talk about how sacred the Rose Bowl was and the PAC and B1G fans would rather play in the Rose Bowl than be part of a playoff because it was the ultimate tradition? Oops!

I hate Bama being in and I feel bad for FSU (been there and done that) but damn if the meltdowns haven't been hilarious, the hypocrisy mind-numbing, and the conspiracy theories off the charts. This is better than when Bama and LSU played again for the national championship during the BCS and that was epic.

That being said 12 teams is ridiculous and the crying when teams are left out because they are the 13th team will be unrelenting. It's bad enough the argue over the top 4 teams but stretch that out to 12 and there will be riots about rankings the entire year. Right now if you are 9th or 15th who gives a shit but OMG come a 12-team playoff and blood is going to be shed.

Did any team make the playoff this year that had the same record as FSU and also FSU had beaten them? Yeah, in this instance, two wrongs do make a right. At least in regards to being able to complain about anything.

The CFP, since its onset, has always said their job is to put the 4 best teams in there. That's why we have a committee. I've yet to see an actual coherent argument right now where anyone can say FSU is one of the 4 best teams in the nation. They are much, much closer to being 10th than 4th.
