The "Done" Teams. Are They Really Done?

Who said Oregon is "dominating" the rest of the season?

I saw where it was basically said that is what they'd have to do to have a chance.

Haven't seen anyone say they could or would.

I'm not saying it's even common thought but a few idiots like OD types probably have that thinking in their head.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Oregon with 4 or even 5 losses at this point.

So, Oregon, LSU, Utah, etc. are done for the season as far as the CFP goes. Are we sure about that? How are we so sure? Go back to 2014. Virginia Tech turned out to be a game above 0.500 according to their record. Ohio State's only loss that season on their way to being national champs? Virginia Tech. Nebraska had a lackluster season in 2015, and they beat Michigan State that season. Michigan State made the playoff. I feel that saying Utah, Oregon, etc. are out of the CFP is a little premature at this point. Some folks have said that this team or that team looked great this past weekend. Others reply well it's the first, maybe second game. Isn't this the same for the teams that lost? Especially close losses.

not reading thread or subscribing to this bullshit. any team that wins out from here on out has a chance for a birth that is a P5 conference.

Yeah, all I have heard from the media is that Southern Cal is the PAC 12's ONLY HOPE. You have to admit that college football is the only sport where teams "are done" and have "no chance" at the CFP after week one (some teams' first game). I hate injuries, but we all know that a team is an injured star QB away from being undefeated to losing 2+ games in a season.

I am not saying that what I posted was the gospel. I was simply saying this is the way that the media likes to spin it. I completely agree with you. Every team (power 5 that is) is really still in it.

Maybe. To be fair to Oregon, I don't think they're as bad as they looked. I think they were in against what is arguably the best team in the game this year and things snowballed on them. It happens. End of the day, these are 18-22 year olds and they don't always react to adversity the way we'd like them to.

That game reminded me of that 55-19 USC win over Oklahoma in the NCG.

USC was the better team, but they weren't 55-19 better. A couple of things went bad against them early, they didn't respond well and were never able to recover.

Having said that, while I don't think Oregon is as bad as they looked, they also aren't good enough to dominate the rest of their schedule the way they would have to in order to overcome that beatdown and get in.

Whats the lowest ranked team to ever make it to the playoff? Sparty? I think they were ranked 12th to start that season. Anyone dip lower than that in a season and make the playoff?

lol

You clearly have comprehension issues.

I did watch the game and what I have posted is 100% true.

Funny that you're so butthurt that you think there was some slam against Florida in my post.

Also, unlike SEC fans, the PAC doesn't think that some other team winning somehow means our team wins too.

But please, continue to show that you aren't bright enough to grasp what my posts were about. It's entertaining.
I know what your post was about. And yet you don’t realize there is more to a game than a final play.

If USC is the "PACs only hope", then the PAC isn't getting in. Fortunately, they aren't.

I'd love them to prove me wrong, but USC doesn't have the depth to be a serious cfp threat yet. Especially on the O and D lines.

I'm not saying they are terrible or anything but IDK how far they are going to go with that QB situation. Unless one of the younger guys takes over and really surprises.

Now that I take a look at their schedule it would be pretty bad if they lost 5 games. They SHOULD go no less than 9-3 if they are actually just a generic "good" team.

You clearly have no idea.

But feel free to continue to show us all that you're oversensitive, butthurt and stupid.

It's not a good look, but it's the look you've chosen, so go with it.

UGA was around 15th in the preseason polls in 2017.

What was Cincinnati ranked in the preseason last year? They were the first team outside Power 5 to make it so I am wondering if they started in the 20s.

I would think Oregon not only has to run the table but has to win CONVINCINGLY in every game.

They lost 49-3. Would the committee want to put them in a rematch in the CFP?

Yeah, I think they can win the PAC North. But I'm not sure they can beat whoever wins the South (likely Utah).

If not for a mistake by their qb on the 2 yard line at the very end of the game, they likely win that game.
LoL

Nut swinging on the best team in the PAC. A team that got their shit pushed in by a team expected to finish close to last place in the SEC East.

I am going to defend trojanfan12 here, I don't think he is nut-swinging by arguing facts he disagrees with on a football game. I have been accused often in the past about it.

Naturally, we are going to watch the teams in our conference/teams we play. Tennessee fans keep up with teams on our schedule like Pittsburgh, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, Vandy, Mizzou, etc. (maybe less so the Akrons and Ball States of the world). I am going to naturally have greater knowledge about SEC teams (especially SEC East teams) and I am going to comment on points that I disagree with and defend those points. That doesn't make me a nut-swinger and it doesn't make @trojanfan12 a nut swinger. That is one of the lamest insults used on this forum.
