TV Series The Last of Us

What more do you want to know about Joel? They told you what motivates him and why he is doing what he does and he is going to get multiple seasons where we get to build on the character.
Tell me you don’t know the source material without telling me you don’t know the source material.

I don't and I don't need to know it to enjoy the show.

I am satisfied with what I know about Joel at the moment. I know his motivations in Season 1. They will continue to build on his story since he isn't going anywhere.

Bill and Frank were a one time thing that they looked at in passing, There was a history between them and Joel and they wanted to expand on their story while they had them. We will never hear from them ever again.

but thanks for gatekeeping a television show about a videogame...it's cool

I thought Season 1 was great. Never played the games, so that didn't influence my opinion for the better or worse. Storyline was good, the acting was great, and the visuals were also tremendous.

My biggest concern is how long they stretch the show. IIRC, there are 2 games, so there's some source material for a second season, but beyond that they will have to write their own story. Always dicey.

Additionally, any post apocalyptic story struggles to find an end game. This is a particular issue with monster (zombie) invasion storylines. Once the monsters' shock appeal wears off, the story becomes very boring and repetitive. Maybe the showrunners will close up shop after season 2.

This show didn't seem anything like walking dead to me. I love how you speak as though your opinion is fact, and in total absolutes. Stfu you knowitall know nothing fuck. You talk about shows like you wrote and directed some successful shit.

Of course it didn't to you, you're a literal retard.

Bill/Frank was hinted at as being a couple in the game (iirc), but I don’t think it was spelled out. Also (again, iirc), they were very minor characters (only referenced?) without any back story at all in the game. Going into the deep dive story of them is 95% show created. And I just think it is very out-of-left-field.

Joel gets a half episode back story. Ellie gets a 1 episode back story (1.1 episode if you count her birth). 2 rando characters who are essentially just mentioned in the game get their own bubble episode. Very much like Nikki and Paulo. The gay aspect, to me, just explains why they got their episode. It never would have happened if it were Bill and Francine.
honestly i feel like you cats get too caught up when a relationship isn't straight. if that was your problem with the episode, i don't know what to say. if it's combined with the ellie episode where she's gay too, i can try and understand it might feel like pushing an agenda if that's your complaint, i don't get it, but whatever. i feel like the ellie backstory was just mistimed. if they had it earlier in the season okay, but we were so much further in the story i don't think anyone cared to go back in time again.

people like different things, it is what it is. walking dead after the first few seasons lost it's luster for me, shit once shane died it was shit, that said most of the other people on the show sucked. so it is an embarrassing comparison to make.

Have you read any of my posts on this subject? If you had, you would not have responded with this post.

Yeah Walking Dead fell off a cliff after the first few seasons.

That said the comparison stands. Post-apocalyptic world with zombie like creatures in it but most of the drama and danger is focused around the various different human groups and humans. Most of season 1 of Last of Us just felt like late season Waking Dead to me once the Walking Dead shifted from the zombies being the biggest threat and antagonist to humans.

shit i feel like after the first season or 2 walking dead already shifted to the humans were the biggest problem.

Pretty sure the 3rd season (best season) was still Zombie as the biggest program because of Rick completely losing his mind and it setup the scenario of how you're supposed to survive against these zombies when your leader has had a total mental breakdown. I don't think it was until Rick miraculously became sane again somehow that it started to shift to humans as the biggest problem and then it was just rinse and repeat the same stupid bullshit from there on out.

i guess we agree it was shit overall. i remember the meme at the time was something like game of thrones makes you care about a person and kills them off. walking dead makes you hate a person and kills them off. i didn't say it as elegantly as the meme was, but it was apt.

And the show was basically the same thing everytime. "We need supplies"

I knew to stop watching twd when when I hated everyone and was cheering for the zombies..

i watched longer than i should have, but your summary feels correct. hell, i feel l watched supernatural way too long. it was shit after the 4th or 5th season when they showed an actual ending that worked, from there, fucking nonsense. i bowed out right before they announced their 15th seasons or something crazy like that would be their last.

As for TWD comparisons, they really are nothing alike. I say that as a huge fan of TWD comics and the first 3 seasons.

TLoU is superior... so far.
