The New Mutants is an X-Men spinoff, the last film of the X-Men cinematic universe which is ending since Disney purchased Fox and will be rebooting the X-Men in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The film has undergone a seemingly never-ending series of delays in its release date: filmed 2017 -> April 13, 2018 -> February 22, 2019 -> August 2, 2019 -> October or November 2019 -> April 3, 2020 -> August 28, 2020.
