The Official Conference Tournaments Thread

Vandy has a weird resume. they have the wins, three bad losses and horrible metrics. they would supplant last year's Rutgers team as the worst at-large bid team ever if they got in.

8 CBB games up on Bookie for today

First ones starting at 1pm ET

Lmao. No. I was tired and combined thoughts. They'll get their ass kicked by a 7 seed as a 10 seed.

I was gonna say, you are way more the bracketologist but what the fuck is going on haha

This UT vs KU bball game is living up to the expectations through the half so far

Ballgame...

Congrats to Marquette.

My Horns looked terrific today.. i know it Yorkman or whatever the big12 commish name is was in pain handing that trophy to UT.. hope the crowd kept chanting SEC

If Princeton beats Yale, UC Santa Barbara moves to the 13 line, Louisiana moves to the 13 line, Grand Canyon would move to the 14 line and Princeton would take the place of Grand Canyon on the 15 line. Let's hope that doesn't happen as I am confused just typing this out. If Dayton beats VCU they simply replace them on that seed line. I think all the other outcomes are meaningless and won't change anything. USC gets a procedural bump to the 9 line instead of PSU, because the B1G has the 8/9 lines monopolized and I can't put an 8/9 B1G team in the same pod as #1 seed Purdue.

The only thing I'm not confident about is the inclusion of Clemson over NC State. I can definitely see that being flipped, but I think the committee will reward Clemson for not only beating NC State 3 times H2H, but also just having more quality wins in general, despite having some awful losses. Clemson is very similar to Rutgers last year, who was in the First Four.

if NCSU misses the tournament, they should fire Keatts. fifth straight season of missing the NCAAT. also got ass blasted by 26 points in Greensboro. despite the relative success this season that fan support is down.

fwiw, i would put NCSU in over Pitt..but i'm not an expert in bracketology. Pitt's metrics suck and i don't think 4 Q1 wins should make up for that. NCSU's superior metrics (#45 NET, #55 kenpom) and 8 Q1/Q2 wins should reign over Pitt's shitty metrics (#67 NET, #78 kenpom) and 7 Q1/Q2 wins.

I will also say this is the strongest group of 12-14 seeds that I can remember in doing this exercise. The 14's on avg are considered top 100 teams according to the NET. All are top 115 in KenPom as well. Just for reference to last year the 14 seeds were ranked #117, #138, #145, and #147 in KenPom. All of the 12's are top 75 in KenPom. Last year only two were in the top 75.

Yeah, in watching NC State games this year, there seemed to be a lot of empty seats outside of the games against Duke/UNC. It wouldn't surprise me to see them make a move on him. They wanted Sendek gone who accomplished a lot more than Keatts.

And yeah, it's close between all those ACC schools. I picked Pitt over NCSU because they have more quality wins, and more quality wins away from home. Plus they own the H2H over NCSU as well. They also played a much tougher NCSOS than NCSU did. Their predictives suck for sure, but their resume based metrics are pretty even. Typically they'll take into the better resume over factoring in predictives if it comes down to selection.

I will say, if it were up to me, I'd put Oklahoma State in over all 3 ACC schools in question, I just don't think the committee will.
