The Union Pacific Railroad refurbished this massive Steam Engine in 2019 for the 150th Anniversary of the Trans Continental Railroad. I had never heard of this before, but it seems as though the Railroad is showing this thing off still. It's a 600 ton Steam Locomotive. Here's the story.

I was into Model Railroading in my younger days (HO & S scales). But, alas, my partying days completely took over and that was that!! :heh:

But I still, to this day, have a subscription to Model Railroader to "lounge read". I would need to get out of condos and get a BIG house so I could build out a KOOL model railroad layout! Eventually, that is... :headbanger:

I've enjoyed watching a few youtube videos of Big Boy in action as well as technical videos on those beasts. Amazing machines whose size and power were off the charts 80 years ago.

Yeah
When I was a kid about 4 years old, I got my first 'O' scale Lionel set.
Had the Berkshire 2-8-4 with it. I still have that and more in the attic.
 
This guy has a model train set that works good.

He has a Big Boy and puts it on at the 5:45 mark
I wonder how many thousands of model trains were sold in this country over the decades.

People still love them

 
Some of these model train enthusiasts have some serious SKILLZ at detailing everything from the engines, train cars and the scenery.

I came across this video earlier and this has some of the most AWESOME detailing done on such a BIG layout.

You power just about anything via steam, it’s fucking badass.

Visited the worlds largest steam hoist on vacation last month. Pulled the operator bell just like the six year kid behind me. Who I reminded there was a line.
