It seems like the more I sleep, the more tired I am. If I have a lazy day on the weekend...it wears me out just as much or more if I am out and about running errands or something.

Like what bunting in the 8th inning of a no hitter? Give us an example and i'm pretty sure i'm still going to say no that's not what's hurting the popularity of the game.

Mostly the notion of "showing up" the opponent. Bat flipping. Swinging 3-0 in an 8 run game. Stealing a base in an 8 run game. Celebratory signs of emotion.
I have no problem swinging 3-0 in an 8 run game, stealing a base is usually called defensive indifference and doesn't count, celebratory signs of emotion or bat flipping used to get you chin music next time you come to the plate, that doesn't happen as much today! I don't think any of these things are hurting the popularity of the game, the last few years I think the protesting is hurting all sports and you have to have an attention span to enjoy baseball in this modern tech world nobody has an attention span, certainly not younger people and if you dont love baseball you aren't gonna sit there and watch it for 3 hours.

Attention span is definitely a real thing, especially now in the days of smart phones. Everything is so immediate that no one wants to wait for anything anymore.
But more importantly the reason I think the unwritten rules are hurting the game is because there's a lack of excitement surrounding the game. There's just a lack of personality. There's no vested interest in any of the real stars of the game. At least again in my opinion.
Times have to change and adding some personality and excitement into it makes up for the lack of attention span.
I honestly believe the money the players make now has something to do with this, it's put an even bigger divide between player and fan.

Interesting. I've never really heard that be an issue before but I guess it is something to consider. Personally I feel a guy is worth 300M if he's "must watch" tv.
