TV Series The Wheel of Time

I thought the idea to cast the main two rivers folk as black was a stroke of genius. I had never thought about it before until I saw the cast, but they are supposed to have a darker toned skin and Rand was supposed to have stuck out as not really looking like the other people. Enough so that Morgase didn’t initially think he was from there when they first met, though his accent confirmed he was telling the truth.

Then they cast white people for other two rivers roles and screwed it all up. Two Rivers folk were a homogenous lot that have stayed put since the Trolloc Wars. They could have done a better casting job. I can live with it though I spguess.

I am hoping they don’t screw this show up like MTV did to Shannara. That was the worst book to tv show I have ever seen. Unwatchable.

This series is something I never jumped into despite really liking the fantasy genre...probably because it just seemed too daunting.

Might have to pull the trigger on it

Come on already, it's November! Start the show

Egwene was supposed to be attractive. That didn’t happen.

JFC I just made it through the first 5 minutes to the title screen and there’s already several things deviating from the books for no necessary reason.

Moiraine didn’t hear rumors of four Ta’veren in the Two Rivers, she goes there on a rumor about Tam.

There is never any doubt the Dragon reborn will be male. Women do not figure into it at all. Why this deviation???

Arrogance didn’t lead men to break the world.

More JFC on a pogo stick…

The homogenous dark featured Two Rivers folk have a few people that could pass as Vikings and Zulus. Come on, pick a color and stay with it, Rand is supposed to stick out. I thought it a nice touch and good idea to make them dark skinned like Perrin and Nynaeve. So why deviate?

Egwene really is not pretty at all.

Why the hell is Perrin in love with a fellow blacksmith woman named Laila? Who thought this was a good idea to put into the movie?

”Name yourself, stranger!!!” is how people are apparently met coming into the inn (where strangers SHOULD come) in Emonds Field.

Apparently death is a possibility for women old enough to braid their hair in the Two Rivers.

Apparently Mat’s mom is a drunk and Abel Cauthon is a letch. The women’s Circle would never allow this. Why was this setting twist necessary?

Things I DO like

The Trollocs and Myrdraal are really well done.

Padan Fain is well cast, he’s gonna make a great Mordeth.

Moiraine - milf. Her use of the power is really cool. She kicks ass with it and the effects are great.

Perrin kills his girlfriend By accident. Good - there was no reason to have her in this show to begin. Must have been the daughter of somebody important in Hollywood.

Ah two more episodes. Good thing as took off today for other reasons. I had forgot these came out today.

Episode 1 - I give it a “B”. It launches the story fine, but the introduction of unnecessary characters and unnecessary plot changes irk me to no end.

Cant touch episode 1 of GOT, but better than the Shannara series.

This thread is for the show since it is under Movies &TV. Someone can make one in the book section if they like.

I like the Whitecloaks, too - well done. Kinda like the Spanish Inquisition if they were based in Salem, Massachusett.
