Thee PAC 12, Big 10, and ACC (Alliance) are Dividing Up tOrphaned 8 As We Plorst.

yeah i don't think UT cares about the actual Exit penalty but they will be damned if they are going to break off the others off with their new deal.

But this is what the rumor is saying..Alliance is slow playing schools remaining in the Big12 to slow down the UT/ou move to the SEC. Alliance is just a voting block, interesting to see that the ACC is going along with it, since they seem to be in lockstep with the SEC. Probably all want more time to assess what to do when it comes to playoff expansion and the new NCAA constitution

What makes me so mad is the Alliance wants to throw salt at the SEC when they are as responsible, if not moreso, for realignment than the SEC. All of them picked from the Big12/Big East prior to the SEC getting any teams.

To me, Big12 was dead the day Pac12 grabbed Colorado and B1G grabbed Nebraska. It just drug on further after that.

@Thiefery, quick question. What is the scenario if the Big12 adds teams (let's say Houston or SMU). Does that eliminate or impact the clause in the contract? Would Houston and SMU be able to get a cut of the tv money?

Where have you read/seen this?

There has been NO official announcement from the "Alliance" meetings.

Is this part of the me not "reading CFB news" you speak of?

You like your click-bait, don't you?

Member schools granted their first and second tier sports media rights to the conference for the length of their current TV deals. The Grant of Rights (GOR) deal with the leagues' TV contracts ensures that "if a Big 12 school leaves for another league in the next 13 years, that school's media rights, including revenue, would remain with the Big 12 and not its new conference."[44]
I guess the big question is how many schools have to be left to still call it a conference and not void the deal? If 2 go to the SEC, 2 go to the B1G and 4 go to the PAC do the remaining two schools collect the media rights of all the other schools? If so if I was WV I would be praying for this.

No, the other 8 schools would keep it, pretty sure the new schools will be paying some sort of membership fee to the others as well for joining.

Think it's 4 to break the GOR.. I gotta do some research because it could be just 3

The purpose of the Alliance has been cited by every media article as a method to "Counter" the SEC's expansion.

Here is one video link although there are dozens:

Thanks. The reason why I am asking is that in many scenarios to "save" the Big12, adding teams is brought up. Based on tv contract information, the Big12 is in a better spot to grab from AAC/MWC versus AAC/MWC grab from the Big12. This is still true even if the new teams don't get the TV Contract benefit.

If it’s 3 that could definitely happen. Every team in the Big 12 is looking for an exit strategy. If they can jump they will.

OU and TX should put out a 20 million bonus to whoever jumps ship first.

You said "the Alliance wants to throw salt at the SEC"

How does a bunch of talking head mainstream media dolts (who have NO official announcement from the Alliance) know anything other than what they THINK it the Alliance may entail?

They're no different than you or me giving our opinions on a message board, but you love the click-bait from the 'experts' that were completely in the dark for 7 months on the TX/OU to the SEC deal.

Even if it is a 'scheduling Alliance' to stay competitive with the SEC media rights deal, how is that "Throwing Salt".

Fucking derp.

FWIW I read less than 8, but not sure about credibility.

i.e. If one more leaves, that makes for 7 remaining and the GOR is busted.

I criticize the mainstream media talking heads for NOT being privy to the Alliance meetings, and dumbass gives me mainstream media talking head links as 'proof' of what those meetings are about. LMFAO!!!!

Do you got a hard on for me or something? Geez. "Counter" is just a political correct way of saying "throwing salt." They hate the fact that the SEC added Oklahoma and Texas (mostly because many of them wish they could add big-name schools like that) so they are making this Alliance to save face. Honestly, the Alliance is probably not going to be much in the scheme of things.

The one thing that I agree with Paul Finebaum on is that the Alliance doesn't make that much sense for the B1G. The B1G would be better served poaching from the ACC/Pac12. I don't think an Alliance will bring any significant $$$ to the B1G. ACC and Pac12 might benefit though. The B1G is still somewhat competitive with the SEC (even with OU and Texas) in TV deals, the ACC and Pac12 are the ones left behind. (The ACC should really be #1 when you look at TV markets. They have the entire flipping East Coast represented with their schools. This is the most populous region of the USA).

Again Bros.. I just read that as a rumor on a realignment board.. It could have some merit or it could be all bullshit. Guess we'll see with time.

Maybe in hillbilly country.

Obviously you are obsessed and ruined by me. Just look at all of your posts in the various threads that I am posting in. Firing first, idiotic insults, etc.

Yes, I do TRUST the talking heads of the sports more than you. Sorry.

I'm selling a vehicle for $10,000. Someone makes me a $9,000 offer and I counter with $9600.

That's me throwin' SALT y'all.

LMFAO!!!

The 'talking heads' spent from January - July thinking the Big 12 would last forever. That TX/OU were going to be there and that the Big 12 would add 2 or even 4 more teams to get back to 12 or go to 14.

How'd that work for you?

Link? Also, where is a link to you disagree with the "talking heads?"

At this point, it is kind of foolish to even argue with you when you are citing that you know better than the professionals who make a living studying and keeping up with this sport.
