Thee PAC 12, Big 10, and ACC (Alliance) are Dividing Up tOrphaned 8 As We Plorst.

What options do they have? It doesn't appear that offers are coming there way.

The best move is to figure out what 4 schools bring you the most value.

Don't forget if TX/OU leave early, the Orphan 8 get a share of their SEC payouts through 2025.

Turns out they were not dividing up the Big 12

Not right now, in 2026 or whenever their tv contracts are up who knows??

Big 12 is going to survive this and keep their seat at the table. The next round of expansion won't be happening for another 10-15 years IMO.

I don’t see any scenario where the B12 keeps their seat at the table. They become G5 the moment the TX/OU bounce.

Because they told us EVERYTHING they've discussed.

They told us nothing other than what every Commissioner and AD from every conference tells us multiple times a year.

"We're focused on providing the best resources for our student athletes"... Yada Yada

Conference expansion (from the P4) isn’t happening this decade. The ACC is the next Domino

If playoff expansion happens and does what was proposed at 6 highest ranked champions then the essentially keep a seat at the table. Even if they decide to go to 5 they are likely to still have good chance at it

I'll be surprised if the 12 team playoff is approved.

I think it is going to be delayed but I think it will be inevitable due to the $$$$ that can be made. SEC would NOT be the only league to get multiple playoff contenders. In fact, under a 12-team playoff format, the Pac12 is likely to get more than 1 teams as well.

In reality, the 12-team playoff favors the Alliance as much, if not more, than the SEC. However, the Alliance will want to show teeth and probably delay it to push for some kind of limitation on # of SEC schools as well as a potential guaranteed playoff matchup between B1G and Pac12 in Rose Bowl (I think this is something that is coming).

They may give them a "seat" at the table that is highly scrutinized based on history of the league. However, it is clear they will be in a different tier than the others.

With the way things are turning out, it makes sense for Big12 teams to stay together, take buy-out money, and try to add some of the stronger G5 programs like UCF, Boise State, BYU, etc.

8-team playoff with top 5 conference champs getting autobids seems like something the alliance would be in favor of.

I could live with that. The only reason that I want 12 is that there is more of a likelihood that smaller team from a non-power 5 makes it. Even with 8-teams, there might be excuses to keep them out.

I don't like it when you see teams that didn't win their conference win a National Title (like Alabama in 2011 or 2017).

I could see that being the move.

Big 12 East:
UCF
Cincinnati
West Virginia
Iowa State
Kansas
Kansas State

Big 12 West:
TCU
Baylor
Oklahoma State
Texas Tech
BYU
Boise State
I’d try to grab Air Force and Navy as well.

It could carry weight in an expanded playoff “you mean these guys are good enough to die for you but you won’t give them a spot in a 12 team playoff?”. I would totally try to pull that off.
