This is the year

Top or tops? There will be several top teams that eliminate contenders. And a lot of other teams will ruin a team’s playoff hopes.

Exactly
Meh. I don’t think teams outside the top 6/7 have a legitimate shot in a playoff to do anything but knock a “top” team off.

Agree, this game this early last season doesn't matter very much. This season it just means tOSU has no wiggle room. Oregon can lose the CG and still be top 12. tOSU I don't think could weather a late season loss #2.
You don’t think running the table from here on out and losing the CCG again to Oregon will get them in? I think 11-2 with both losses to Oregon gets them in. I think the meeting in Nashville Thursday sent the message to the committee in regards to B1G and SEC teams’ records. JMO

Just my opinion, but I think Big 10 and SEC will get a minimum of 3 teams in the playoffs the vast majority of the time. You don’t want to be that 3rd team though. There is a 100% chance you have to play an extra playoff game to win it all and a decent chance you open on the road

Depends on a lot of things. If there are a lot of 1 loss teams in the top 20 then a 2 loss CCG loser could get bumped out. Also the military schools are doing well this year and could be a monkey wrench there in the 9-12 range.

This win locked Oregon into the playoffs. Not that it’s going to happen but the Ducks can still lose 2 games and make the CFP.

I'll take my chances. I think home field won't mean as much in the playoffs.

Are you sure about that? There is big difference between playing in Texas in the winter compared to playing in a place like Michigan. I would feel much better playing someone like PSU in Austin compared to going there for a White-out game at night

You will be lucky if you get to play a second game in College Station, and you will like it!

Not sure, just a feeling. Come playoff time, the players are more focused, school doesn't get in the way and the crowd will affect them less.

These are the 5-12 teams. Talent will win out.

@OregonDucks tell me, I need to know. Since you’re an insider we all deserve an answer. Was THIS the plan all along, AmiRight? Chip went through the motions these past so many years just so he could be an Oregon plant in the Buckeye booth. Yep, the fix was in all along and you didn’t clue us in. Damned brilliant, damned brilliant!

Remember the top 4 are based on conference champions. The 4th team may not even be a top 10 team. There will be plenty of years the 5/6 seeds will be the favorites over the 3/4 teams. Right now most predictions have the 8/9 game as Bama/Clemson. The home team will be favored and both have the talent to be a NC contender.

Alabama/Clemson is a game that, currently, I would not bet on no matter where it is played. No home field advantage will change that.

It’s happening. This Oregon team, this Oregon program, after all these years of ascension, will finally reach the mountain top! What we all witnessed in Eugene tonight is IT! Lanning is HIM! Gabriel now heisman candidate! Oregon is the best team in the country!

It’s going to happen! Go Ducks!

Wait!?!

Didn't you say that last year?

And the year before that?

And the year before that?

And the year before that?

And the year bef...you get the picture.
