This taunting rule is already a disaster

What I don't get is why the entire defense is still allowed to go mug for the end zone cameras after a big turnover. That's not taunting?
Nope, because the NFL likes having those social media cams so they allow it. Though I don't think any stadiums have those this year do they?

The end zone camera is neither the opponents sideline nor the opposing player.

So the rule is simply "don't do it in another player's personal space, because that's a micro aggression?" It's still showboating, I'm not sure why it's different. Unless...

Ahhh, so we're back to the duplicitous nature of the league. Whatever will hopefully maximize exposure and/or profits even when those things are not consistent with each other

exceptions of course exist. But for the most part the lame celebration and taunting rules are all about "get off my lawn" mentalities.
I'd bet that most of the guys in the league office are Gen X, not boomers.

Exactly. I maybe should have made my reply in green. I was giving the “league” reply.

Absolutely duplicitous and nonsensical.

Mentioned it earlier but the only one I saw yesterday that I’ll give some merit is Keenan Allen jumping right up and getting in the opponents face. No need for that.

You want to make a big play and spin spike the ball on the opponents side of the field….so what.

As a Gen Xer, I don't why my generation suddenly is crying about showboating. We're Gen X. Deion Sanders is Gen X. How the fuck we gonna be the generation of Deion Sanders and cry about showboating?

Circus and WWE mentality. Slapstick clowning. Don't need penalties for it, just run the clowns out of the league. Or, institute a hockey like penalty of, say, one quarter on the bench. Doesn't affect the game immediately. If you can't stay on the field, you are worthless to the team. You gone.

Either get some self-discipline or find a new career.

Because I can. My turn. But, like any other product, if the flaws become unbearable, I will quit being a consumer.

Already have done that with NBA and NHL.

That's a good question. We had plenty of showboats and in your face players when I was a youngster, but it wasn't everybody. Now it seems as if it's virtually every guy on both teams that wants to get his moment on TV after the play and I think that the league wants to reign it in so that retribution/payback doesn't start getting out of hand.

I'll even do some virtue signaling. Taunting is a form of bullying. And bullying is not OK, ever.

This feels like one of those situations where you can feel one way on the issue, but then the complete other way when you’re charged with finding a way to stop something.

In this case the league is trying to manage and even eliminate instances where fights break out….or even back optics like a Steelers QB taking a helmet to the noggin.

I get all that. But, it’s often the group think solution to take 0 tolerance on anything that could instigate fights or melees. This isn’t the way to approach it. It’s like chemo….it might kill what you want it to kill but it will kill other things (fans enjoyment of the game).

I love the “penalty box” idea I read here. I would sign up for that. It could have some strategy at play.

It didn't add to the game for me. I admire how good a basketball player MJ was. I don't admire his trash talking. Pretty simple, it adds nothing to the game. FOR ME.

(Green font implied )
Trash talking should become a stat so draft position can be improved by the trash you have in your game.
I wanna win and I wanna be disrespectful while winning. Fuck all that respecting the opponent shit. They’re the enemy

There should be more hockey style fights in football with limited penalties for sech fights. The NFL is for poosays.
