FWIW, I have stayed in "non smoking" Hampton rooms before that reeked. And one time I tried closing the blinds, and the entire curtain setup fell down. So, hotels aren't always great, either.

I would assume that any place that has people coming and going constantly is going to have wear and tear. I have experienced the same as you mentioned with hotels. It just happens
