Tis Tik Tok Friday

One of the things my dad said after one of my "mistakes" has stayed with me all these years.

"You got yourself in trouble. Get yourself out."
I mean, that makes sense.

I don't think illegal makes something simply frowned upon...

raised catholic, taught morals and stuff, grew up, had fun, did shit...never really got caught though

so I suppose the same being discussed here...and maybe it's because I misunderstood that the morals were taught too.

I was never told by my dad "don't get caught"

Also, not all consequences are bad. Get caught doing something good, against the rules or not.

get....caught...doing something good?

like "oh shit, you caught me doing charity! Fuck me!"?

Speeding while rushing a pregnant mother-to-be to the hospital. Committing assault on a guy who just punched his girlfriend. Robbing Peter to pay Paul.

I must have hit a nerve

I had to learn for myself "don't get caught" and I feel like that is something every kid learns the hard way.

a parent telling their kid "don't get caught" seems like "ok, I did my best on the morals and shit, up to them now"

I agree there is a point where you have to take the training wheels off and they are on their own on their decisions

I've never told my kids that EVER, you fucking idiot.

My kids have known from an early age that if they do get caught doing something wrong, the punishment will be considerably less severe than if they get caught AND lie to me about it.

"act like there is always a camera on you"
I have told my kids that before. Well a version of it. it went more like," You have to assume you are always being recorded"

I mean realistically idgaf, Amex would have had my back on any dispute regardless of who I booked it through.
I've watched people get bumped off flights/out of rental cars multiple times because they booked through Expedia.

What's Amex going to do for you then?

I have a Ring, and then some Swann cameras
park hissing GIF

Fuck you, ya flaming idiot.

I didn't tell them "Don't get caught". I told them the likelihood of them getting caught is high. That is not the same, you empty headed moron.
Easy there cowboy
