TJ Maxx to have employees wear body cams???

oh boy...that argument again.

or maybe because school shootings are carried out by students and that is where they know they can get the people who have hurt them the most.

are churches gun free zones?

you don't see shootings at big sport events really...and those are gun free, right?

please...tell me more about mass shootings...because so far you haven't said anything that is true.
Big sporting events where you have to pass through metal detectors and be searched?

Again these aren’t the same.

So all school shootings are carried out by students? The Nashville shooter wasn’t student.

As for churches I don’t know do they put up signs saying gun free zone?

Please do t question the veracity of what I’m saying when you obviously don’t.

are the cameras visible and right there in your face?
I’m trying to understand your argument. You’re saying that the average shoplifter who would have zero issue shoplifting right in front of an employee would suddenly reconsider if they saw a body cam on said employee?

You would have to be the dumbest fucking shoplifter on the planet to not know there are cameras on you at all times when you walk into a retail establishment especially one as big as TJ Maxx. So why would anyone think a bodycam would be more of a deterrent?
it's pretty easy to spot a mounted camera and do your best to not let it get a clear shot of your face.

harder to do with an individual who is right in your face.

camera = evidence

but how are signs bragging about subways being safe meant to be a deterrant?

to me it feels like they are meant to calm the fears of some on the subway more than deter crime from occuring.
Words are cheap. Clearly, signs, robots, cameras and National Guard checking bags, isn't deterring crime in the NYC subway. The TJ Maxx bodycams are a similar useless measure. If states and cities decriminalize theft and other infractions, there is zero incentive for criminals to adjust their behavior.

If I were a homeless crazy person that wanted to threaten old women and children, I'd go to the subway to do it. If I were a thief who wanted to rip off some merchandise and get 30% of the value from a fence, I'd go to the store that never calls the cops or tells its employees to stop me. If you want to turn this into an argument about effective deterrence, go for it. I'm still staying that a sign saying you're being recorded or that guns aren't allowed... is functionally a 0% effective deterrent, because large amounts of crime are still happening.

you'd be wrong.

do laws against murder not work because people still get murdered?

if we got rid of all laws saying murder is wrong and have penalties, do you think the number of murders in the country would go up?

I will admit that I’m not a regular customer of TJ Maxx, but I don’t recall the store to be crawling with employees trying to help you.

That's a gross oversimplification, and I think you know it. 'Laws against murder' are not literally edicts that one shouldn't do it. It's part of a criminal code, that defines circumstances, the various law enforcement and state prosecutorial powers and potential penalties, such as imprisonment and execution. A $20 sign isn't deterring any substantial amount of crime, particularly if large amounts of gun crime are seen to take place there anyway.

Now, if the TJ Maxx body cameras were being used to help police arrest and lock up thieves and violent thugs, then great. But this dumbass CFO is directly claiming that the presence of the cameras alone is keeping people safe and deterring crime.

Unfortunately, I've been there more than I'd like to admit. The wife likes it there. I will say, pretty good/cheap home goods selection.

Is it though? They’re pretty good at disguising them. And how do you know the one closest to you is the one recording you.

The more I listen to you the more I realize you don’t have the first clue about store security measures.

I would say that shoplifters generally would fall into one of two categories:

- Those who try to avoid being seen by an employee. Body cams won’t work against these
- Those who don’t care if they’re seen by an employee. Body cams won’t work against these, either
