If Illinois can do it....

“What are you going to do when you arrive to the place called there.”

Powerful stuff.

But as for the OP, you’d think the administration would be happy to have any kind of butts in seats, even if they’re supporting the road team. Road fans money spends the same. Vandy probably would never have more than 5k fans at a home game if not for their opponent’s fan base making a weekend trip to Nashville out of the matchup

Colorado is basically Kansas now, just getting to a bowl game every now and then will keep most happy, which is will probably be able to do with recruiting alone, but if you can’t develop or coach your team up, are you really that good of a coach? I mean, Kirby Smart is a great recruiter, but his QB is a former walk on and the top two receivers were 3 stars and he’s had multiple 3 star recruits go on to be drafted in the first round(Eric Stokes and Jordan Davis off the top of my head). If you’re gonna be a good coach, you’re gonna have to do more than just recruit. It’s easy to have the most talented team in the worst FCS conference, it gets a little tougher when you move to a P5 school, especially one that is 1000 miles from the nearest 4 star
Except for 4-5 years of the McCartney era, they’ve always been like Kansas.

I read that Colorado football has just landed a cannabis retailers license.
So, herbs and spices to save Col., Sanders?

Colorado AD Rick George told the press Sunday that the program doesn’t “have the money yet,” but that the Buffaloes should be in solid position to get it. He added he’s “not worried about” getting the cash to make sure Sanders gets his money.

That might be the craziest statement I've ever heard from an AD after just hiring a coach. He just admitted they are broke and are going to have to fundraise just to pay coaches' salaries. This is not a good start.

They are banking on Deion bringing in better players, getting butts in seats, and hoping to get some relevance. If I'm Colorado I'm going all in on SOMETHING to break their irrelevance.

If they can't get boosters to cover a HC salary, how are they gonna get them to dummy up NIL monies to get those players?

Said boosters should be on board BEFORE the HC is hired, no?

I am not a businessman, but would it have made sense to see if there was cash in the bank account before making an offer?

How does a P5 athletic department not have enough money to pay their coach
We know about this, but our hire we made sure we could afford.

Colorado doesn't have the $ to pay THIS coach, but they had enough to pay ANOTHER coach.

They went for name and hype hoping it will all pan out.

"If you hire him, donations will come"

I don't know, I got nothing. This might be the first coaching hired by line of credit. :noidea:

Since Gary Barnett........................

Colorado has had ONE winning season
Wrap your head around that.
After watching those great teams in the late 80's and early 90's this just seems unbelievable

and that was a fucking random winning season. they were coming off a 4-9 year and they managed to go 10-4, as many wins as they had from 2013-15 combined. They managed to beat Stanford, Utah and Wazzu that year. Close loss to USC, they were beating Michigan until Liufau got hurt (UM ended up winning 45-28). Did get blown out by Washington and Okie State to end the season. They followed that up with three consecutive 5-7 seasons.

Maybe they could sign Deion to an NIL deal? But seriously how can they not have the money?

That team that won the natty in 1990-91 was fun to watch
