tOfficial "Deion Sanders to Colorado" Thread

Wow, two years and Colorado is up there at the top of the PAC12?
Can be done in 1 year with the portal. Let’s see how recruiting goes this year. That would be a tall task

Currently he doesn’t have didly

the Pacs problem in most recent years has been any team can beat any team. other conferences you know who the favorites are but in the pac as soon as you say Oregon and Stanford, Washington came back up. now Oregon State has been a factor. WSU has had a say but Stanford has fallen off. Utah UCLA now USC comes back around. both Arizona Schools have won the division and like you said so has Colorado. Not to mention their 2020 season.
and you can call them middle but up til about last 2 or 3 games of the season there were still 4 teams looking at potential CFP spots.
unlike other conferences who have teams who never place better than 3rd in their divisions. who have never even sniffed a title game
I think we can all agree Auburn has sucked since 2017 but we still managed to beat Washington and Oregon in years they won the conference.

It won’t take much for Colorado to compete.

I will be the first to say -- I know very little about HBCU schools, but I know they'd go years without getting anyone drafted. Sanders brought eyes to HBCU schools and the players. The Lions drafted a DE from Jackson State -- they activated him from the practice squad two weeks ago and all he has done is get 3 sacks in the 2 games he has played.

I think you underestimate what he will be able to do. He has hired HC's to coach alongside him, Kent State HC is now his offensive coordinator, Willie Taggart former Oregon/FSU coach with be his defensive coordinator. I think you will see Deion bringing in top 15, top 10 type classes, as majority of the top recruits are african american and truth be told, while Sanders is cut throat as you see in the CU team meeting, he looks like a fun coach to play for.

I think he will be competitive next year, but it will take a few years to build depth in the program, to have sustained success. It will all come down to what his kid looks like against an enormous step up in competition for a QB.
I'm not saying he is a fraud or anything like that. Look no further than Caddy at Auburn to see what a motivational coach can do for a team. I just don't think he is going to come in and see the success at Colorado that he saw at Jackson St because he has honest to goodness competition now.

This seems like a strategy that may work short term but IDK how Deion does long term at Colorado. Once the shine wears off.

what's the timeline for the USC move to B1G? If it is 2 years away then he has his two years of building to get ready for that, 3rd year could be the charm.

2024 for USC to the B1G
So he has a growing pains year next year and then starts to build on it and put it together in 2024. Seems a reasonable scenario, and I doubt there are any alumni that will be pissed if he isn't in the CFP in year 1.

Since Dan Hawkins took over in 2006 Colorado has only managed not to lose 7 or more games in a season 2 times.

2016 and the 2020 COVID year. Theyve got no reason not to have patience and expect winning right away.

Well, depending on how the money situation goes. If there is a big funding push for Deion, that might set expectations a little higher than they should be.

Another good question. Why Auburn didn’t hire Caddy

And, unless something has changed as he has gotten older, I question whether he can get his players to *work*.

You should know as well as anyone, when he was in the NFL, especially in Dallas, he was well known for being lazy. Sleeping through film study, refusing to work out. He was that rare physical talent who could get away with it. But he had zero work ethic in Dallas.

I don't think that will be something he can get away with in FBS.

To me it's because a cheerleader coach is good for a quick turnaround but the act wears thin over time.

I've always contended that great players make shit coaches, and shit players make HOF coaches. It comes down to knowing what it takes to get on the field. If you are a generational talent, well you can't teach that to others. But if you are average but have to work your butt off then you know what it takes and how to teach others to do it.

auburn has still been a lot better than Colorado

Anything could fizzle out yes but look at how many schools are hitting on coaches these days. Even A&M learning real quick giving 18 year olds money isn’t going to equal success.

Anyone looking at it realistically knew we were going to have a bad year considering the number of true freshmen. It's one thing to pull the top recruiting class when you already have 5 stars at every spot, but all our 5 stars went to the starting lineup.

If I were you I would be more concerned with who you guys are going to get to fill in your holes and who is going to call the offense.

i dont worry over stuff like that. no amount of worry on my part makes any difference.
sounds like Oregon was going after UTSA OC. they finished 9th in total offense.

Oh, I know it happened everywhere that has had success. The old SWC wrote the book.

Heck, Johnny Rodgers robbed a Kansas gas station when he was at Nebraska. LOL

I just know you're an SEC fan so I responded in kind.
Best one was when one school was offering more than another. When the coach at the second school told the BMD about it the booster told the coach, "You tell that kid we'll buy him a liquor store and he can rob it anytime he wants to."
