Tony wishes he was half the coach Deion is.

Let’s be honest, If Peyton had Deion, Brady would have a lot less rings.

:kermit:

Neon Deion was one of the true greats as a football player…
Pfft bullshit. He was a great only when he was playing in prime time. That’s how he got the name.

Otherwise, and average player.

Old people get especially angry when black people like Deion find instant success and fame. I have an uncle like this. Verbally assaulted everybody at a Texas Roadhouse one day when he noticed the menu featured an interracial couple enjoying a meal together. His poor old brain just zapped out. How could anybody possibly be accepting of this??? Why couldn’t everybody else see what he could see?

Then eventually his grandson became a vampire.

So, there’s a lesson in there somewhere.
The lesson I see is that you are a racist.

I am an old person. I am not racist. I also don't think Deon will be a good HC not because he is black, but because he doesn't have some of the important things that a top HC has to have. Start with humility. Hence the point made about him using "I" a billion times. Might he prove me wrong? Sure. But the odds on his personality making him a good NC are long.

The lesson to be learned is to not paint all old white people as racists just because you have an old white uncle who may be a racist.

I know but I had to try something. We had two posters losing their shit right before our eyes and I panicked and said something I didn't really mean.

You old hairy dawg! Humility? Most of these head coaches have egos the size of the Pacific Ocean! Only a very few are humble. The only difference is how arrogant or affable they are…but the egos are all huge. I’d put Prime in the arrogant group….except when he’s wanting to be entertaining.

There is a difference between having an ego and being humble and having humility. When you hear Smart or Saban talk, it's all about the players, the system, about the other team. It's about the standard. It's never about them. They don't draw the spotlight to themselves, rarely take credit and always take the fault. That is what I am talking about.

It's also what the parents of most players want to hear. Those types of coaches don't need to talk about themselves, their actions speak for them. A coach coming in saying this about me, and I this and I that will turn them off. There is a reason great coaches attract the players and their parents.

One of the most awkward coaches I have ever seen was Dan Mullen. He's a great OC. He just was awkward around his players, and said stupid things in press conferences. It wasn't so much me, me, me, but he just didn't read the room well, and it cost him.

I submit that Deon's (I refuse to call him Prime, and that is exhibit 1 of his prima donna attitude) inward focus will be his downfall. his shtick will get old fast, IMO.
