You ate at Fisherman's Wharf, it sounds like twice (?!?), but didn't eat at the ball park, which, among other things it's known for, is known for having shockingly good food???

I can kind of get past not eating at the ball park, because it seems really weird to think a ball park has food that is better than edible, but to eat at Fisherman's Wharf even once, much less twice, when North Beach is just a few blocks away ...

By that point I also just didn't want to pay ballpark prices and wait in line for an inning+ for food.

Didn't know about North Beach food though so I'll eat that one.

The only restaurant I can recall in NoBe was that focaccia place on Filbert.

And there was a brewpub on Columbus that had pretty good beer

Well, since there are 3 Bay Area people on this thread, at least one of us should have mentioned North Beach to you.
In our defense, we probably all just figured eating in North Beach is such a given, we didn't think to mention it.
I know I thought of it, and thought, "meh, try not to state the obvious."

Almost any place you go in North Beach is going to be pretty exceptional, at least in my experience.

Well by the time I got there, I had been living in NYC for a few years. It didn't strike me as any better than Chinatown/Little Italy in Manhattan.

But full disclosure: I'm not what anyone would call a "foodie"

I loved City Lights, though. Spent almost a whole day there

Well, when you live in one of the best food cities in the country, going to one of the other best food cities in the country isn't necessarily that revelatory.

I could happily pass day, after day, after day at City Lights.

That's what I was getting at earlier ...

He didn't eat at the ballpark, but
He did eat at Fisherman's Wharf.
That's the complete opposite of what he (or anyone who visits the area and goes to a game) should do.
