I think maybe because she didn't celebrate Christmas growing up, she was getting some of her ya-yas about that out as an adult. That was fine by me, because it made Christmas pretty special. I still make my own bows, or at least some of them, the way she taught me. I also still put hints on the package label in terms of what the gift is.

Yeah, my kids figured each figured it out about 3 years before we found out they knew. They said they appreciated that we put in that extra effort.

Used to do the cookie and milk thing too. Funny story, we were spending Christmas Eve at my parents house 1 year. The kids were worried that if they weren't home...Santa wouldn't come. We assured them he would and that their presents would be there and the cookies and milk would be gone.

We take the kids out to the car, my wife is getting them situated, I say "oh, I forgot something" run inside, put the presents under the tree and power down 2 big cookies and a big glass of milk. Didn't occur to me to just put the cookies back and pour the milk out...so I spent the drive to my parents on the edge of hurling. lol
