are you close to anything threatening?

At the moment, no, I am not in the path of any of the current fires.
There is a good possibility of more lightning strikes forecast, so that's disconcerting as hell, but on the brighter side, at least the triple digit heat has backed off.
A few days ago, triple digit heat, really fucked up air, and the the announcement of rolling blackouts (which, fortunately, did not happen at my house) had me stressed af. So, in a way, even though I'm bitching about the fucked up air, I'm feeling kind of grateful. It could be worse, has been worse, and is worse for others.
In other words, if all I have to worry about at the moment is the fucked up air, all things considered, I'm in pretty good shape.

Both, I think. I could ask him. I'm kicking his dick in on another thread right now. He just said that Hammer asked him to be a moderator over here. lol

Hahaha. That would be like killing his site in first week.

@Handicappers you should make various alts and like all the handicappers ID posts enough to get it higher than AG's over on the OG Hoop

stay safe over there. get your "go bag" ready if you haven't already.

Thanks.
Yeah, the "go bag" is part of today's plan.
After a fire a few houses down from me back in ... I think it was February or March ... where I thought I may have to evacuate immediately, just by virtue of the couple of things I grabbed, I now know to keep those couple of things ready to go by the door to the garage.
I also learned it's better to keep the cat carrier in the car, and just carry the cat to the car with me. It was a battle to get her into her carrier, and if time is of the essence, it's better to worry about getting her into her carrier once I'm out of harm's way.
All that said, I'm putting together a more extensive bag than just those couple of things I grabbed that night.

California is getting the hell, and your neck of the woods is getting high water.

Seriously, my shutters, blinds, and curtains are all closed.
It's just too fuckin' creepy to look outside, right now.

I wanted to go to the store, but the air is so bad I won't go out without a mask (for the bad air, not covid), but the N95 I have is a dust mask and has that valve, which means it doesn't meet the requirements for the mandatory covid masks, so if I went out, I'd have to wear two masks.

Fuck. That.

I'll take the water over the fire, thank you very much!

I think I'd have to agree with you.

There was a time I wouldn't have, simply because hurricane season happens every year, and up until a few years ago, it didn't seem to be that way with fires. Now that fires (and the accompanying smoke which, even if you aren't in danger from the fires, can be pretty nightmarish) are becoming an annual thing, I've changed my mind.
I've been considering a second home for a long, long time. This shit is getting me to a point where I'm actively starting to try and figure out where I want that 2nd home to be.

Watching the videos of folks driving through fire engulfed areas with flames lapping at their cars! Terrifying!

I had to look away...too stressfull.

Nope! I'll take my chances with the water.....
