I don't know real estate - but can you get in on that size of a loan with only 5% down?

Probably not. I just enjoy dazzling women with my math skills (and mortgage calculator spreadsheet).

Even at 10% down, you'd have to purchase mortgage insurance.

I'm starting the next fucking thread when this hits 10k. any of you motherfuckers want to try to stop me and get my foot up your ass?
You already fucked one up recently.... your next opportunity will come next to never, bitch...!

I nominate @beardown07

with good credit. yes

but you are also paying a PMI of about 200/month for nothing.

and i wish my property taxes were only 1% I'm currently at 2.9
You don't have state income taxes, though, neither does FL.

Hi!

I hope all's well in your world.

We're okay. Work has been really slow for me and my savings are getting eaten up so I may start gig work in the evenings, which I am NOT looking forward to, but needs must, y'know?

Family seems to all be healthy, which is good. My cousin put her wedding back a year and I'm annoyed because we were looking at having ours around then (although we may have to push back a year too, what with everything going on), but I'm not saying anything because the fight isn't worth it.

Hope you and yours are doing well too!

Also I never said we could afford a $700k house...just that I drool over it on Zillow. We're thinking a nice little starter home for around $200k before building equity for a few years then upgrading to a forever home.

Too bad most of the starter homes around here are $350,000 :L

i will never ever move to Florida. Love the state..but too damn expensive.

my dad is now homeless because his social security won't cover rent there.

I was listening to the talking heads blabber on yesterday about how the last time the Raiders hung 40 on the Chiefs was Gruden's first stint at coaching the Raiders... in 2000. How in the everloving FUCK are we TWENTY YEARS into the 2000's??

:wtf:

All's well here, thanks.

I'm sorry to hear you may have to pick up work you don't want to do, but hopefully it won't be for too long.

Housing went apeshit this year since NO INVENTORY.

I constantly see houses here go for $100k over list.... people are stupid.

That blows for your dad, I hope someone is helping him out - has he contacted his state rep? Mine is always helping individuals by fundraising to cover their rent or give them cash for hotel stays. She's the best.

Yes, it's hideously expensive here. But I love it and I'd like to stay...my man wants to travel elsewhere so I'm pushing hard for Ireland. If I have to up sticks, let's go somewhere with decent healthcare and cheap plane flights to the continent with all the good booze!

:( Can barely get a mobile home for that kind of money around here. I need to seriously consider buying soon because every time I look at a paystub, the taxes make me cringe. I can afford a mortgage, but can't afford the 20% down payment because I really, really, really don't want to touch my 401k for it.

I'm not the first person to need a second job during a recession, and I won't be the last! Just trying to be thankful that I should be able to make things work until work is fully back online.

We're not buying unless it's in a good financial/geographic spot for us. Not unless something urgent happens...right now we're in a good place and hoping to stick with it until we've got a good reason to leave.

Yeah I have some friends out in San Jose...it's ROUGH. One of my buddies here in Florida was hanging on to the Home Depot stock he got while he worked there in college, and cashed that all in to buy his first home with his girl. Wish I'd had the brains to do shit like that lol
