Only thing I’ve ever caught out of the ocean is trout and ladyfish in Steinhatchee, FL.

Assuming that's an Atlantic/Carribean/Gulf of Mexico Barracuda, its not a good idea to eat those due to the reef toxins they accumulate over time. They hunt the reefs and are more territorial.

Pacific Barracuda are more pelagic and don't accumulate reef toxins. They are smaller, but they chase schools of smaller fish all over the place. You could only keep them if they were 28 inches or larger.
Yeah, Barracuda's are trash fish. But they're easy to catch, so fishing tour companies will target them for the greenhorns to make a big catch.

Not saying @WestEndVol = greenhorn...

Yea, around here our charters will put tourist on amberjacks for that purpose. Fun fighting fish, but not good for much else. We call them reef donkeys. They pull like a motherfucker!

Can't speak about Atlantic Barracuda, but the Pacific ones are excellent. Its a firm not flaky meat that holds up well frying or grilling.
