I swear, that I spanked my kids, when they were young. I never beat their ass like I got, but depending on the infraction, the size of the smack they got, was reflective.

Dont think I had to spank any of them past the age of seven. Gave my son a sizable punch in the chest one day, that was an accumulation of several issues. He was 17, and thought he was a big man. I was trying to talk to him, and his mom chimed in, he rolled his eyes, and and mumbled, "whatfuckever". I snapped, and gave him shot to the chest.
His mom freaked the fuck out, and I felt like total shit.
He did snap the fuck out of whatever attitude issue he was having. I just think it had been so long, he thought he could just play big man on campus. He laughs about it now, but he wasnt laughing that day! Hahaha.

Same. I have spanked my kids. It's never been over the line, and like you said, never even remotely close to what I got as a kid, and I could probably count them all on my hands.

My daughter is 8, and got one a few weeks ago, so ya got me on the age deal, but they are fewer and farther between now, so hopefully it's nearing the end.

It's not something I enjoy, but a huge chunk of parenting is unenjoyable.

I think i had the talk with them that spanking is no longer useful, and now punishment will be about other stuff being taken away.

Whatever it is, it has to hurt. Set number of days with electronics. Being confined to their room. My kids bedooms have the outlets on one circuit, and the lights on the another. So I could kill the breaker to their room, and they still had a light. No TV, or games, nothing. Give them some paper and pencils or something constructive maybe. Books to read. Shit they hate, you now?!.

Ya, we do that with both already. Sometimes that shit is empty af on my part tho, as my current situation sometimes needs that "babysitter", for lack of better words. I work from home....with the kids. It is hard. My job is not easy, mentally. Interruptions are death knells. I try to do most at nite, but we are busy af right now.

The threat works in shutting them the fuck up tho, for petty shit, like them arguing er whatever, at least for a minute or two.:facepalm:

I'll quit bitching. I'm just stress balls right meow.

I'd feel like a complete piece of shit if I ever spanked my kids. That's why I've only ever resorted to spanking other peoples kids.

I handled it based on the kid. My ex was one of those "never spank them" type of parents. We never had to spank the daughter. Hell, I barely remember her ever even needing a timeout.

My son on the other hand, even the ex came around on spanking. Not that he needed it a lot. But he definitely did a few times.

And for the record....I didnt watch the whole series but did watch the final season. I loved the ending. Loved it even more that it actually pisses off some people.

@beardown07 - you did fine by yelling. If you don't show anger and disappointment every now and then, how are they gonna know the boundaries? Especially if it could involve injury...?

Fortunately, I never had to spank or swat at my girls. Just never felt compelled. I don't judge others that do, though, either.

The only thing you could do wrong, is to dehumanize or humiliate them. Doesn't sound like you've done that.
