I think my current tree retailed for about $300, and I got it for like $75.

$700 for a forkin' tree?

I hope it can give you a handy after you put it up, too, for that much coin.
It's all relative. Figure between $50 and $100 for a live tree? I've never bought one either, so, spit balling.... but at least 8'.... but preferred taller....

Like you said. Pays for itself after 7 - 10 years?

"you see son, a woman is like a... refrigerator. They're about six feet tall... around 300 pounds... they make... ice..."

You may want to consider not putting any ornaments or, if you use it, tinsel on the bottom limbs. I know, it may not be as aesthetically pleasing that way, but "not as aesthetically pleasing" is better than, had to take the pups to the vet 'cause she ate an ornament, or can't poop 'cause there's a ball of tinsel in her stomach. Actually, now that I think about it, I'd probably just saw off the bottom limbs.

The good news for you is, she's not a cat, who are known to climb the fuckin' trees. It's funny as hell, until their bit of extra weight causes the tree to fall over, or that ornament you put somewhere you thought was safe is batted to the floor and breaks.
I don't use tinsel and most of my ornaments are bigger than her head so I don't have to worry too much about her eating them whole, but I do get nervous about the ones with feathers, glass and glitter. I'll probably leave the bottom bit pretty bare. Or give her away to the circus. We'll see.

I had a cat about 10 years ago and was always afraid she was going to bolt up the center of the tree and poke her eye out.

Buy a smaller live tree in a planter and you'll have that fresh pine scent for years.

You'll also be environmentally responsible.

I get a small live one from Trader Joe's to put in my bedroom with itsy bitsy lights and teensie colored balls.

I've been lucky. My childhood cat did nothing other than sleep under the tree when the lights were on and sit on top of presents. My last cat just really didn't give a shit those years I even bothered to put up a tree, and my current cat doesn't really give a shit, either, again, when I even bother to deal with a tree. I have friends, though, who have told horror stories.

Fuuuuuuck.... We have 4 new guys at work. They were in training all day yesterday with some other folks. I had them all day today but one called in sick. Just got notified he, the one who called in sick today, tested positive for the 'Rona this afternoon. Now the other 3 have to quarantine.

Which part?

Artificial trees are cheap AF in January.

I may be off on how much a live tree costs these days, because I have not ever bought one.
I pay about $75 for a live 7 footer, I think. It's usually something like sixty bucks for the first 5 feet then they add on per foot. This is a "cut your own" farm where they pass out candy canes and hot apple cider so it makes me happy to get out there with the fam, hiking over the mountain, picking out the best tree. And for the years I don't get to really cold climes, this also allows me to wear my snow boots for shits & giggles :heh:
