That honey mustard IPA sounds like a good time. As does the mesquite peppercorn one.

Oh fuck, like I said, my stubborn old mom, will politely say thanks, then bitch under her breath about what a waste of money they are, and then go back to her shitty pan, wherein every meal is evenly seasoned with little flecks of teflon. :censored: 🔫

Pretty much like mine. I'm going to have to physically go through her old shit and throw the old ones away that these are replacing. I half ass expect her to give these to me in a month or two for some reason or another. Then she'll probably go buy her some cheap ass gotham steel shit from walmart. :L

So, is it a real scandal, or is it like the "scandal" about the Gov of California having dinner at the French Laundry (and now the Mayor of SF going there the next night). Mind you, there's no arguing the optics of that during a time when so many people are hurting financially are really bad, but neither dinner was against the restrictions in place at the time.
Don't forget about San Jose's mayor... didja hear that one? Told the press he was spending T-Day at home with fam, then had to go and "correct" his statement after the fact, that he was actually at his PARENT'S house, with more than 5 families there. He was dipping & dodging the questions at first, but had to eat massive fucking crow yesterday when people started getting pissed.

I swear, they can be absolute total hypocrites, and they just have to say, "I take full accountability for my actions" afterwards and they think it's all okay. I'mma try that.. let's see how that turns out for me.

You'd look good in orange, mox. No need to get hoosegowed. Acquire some Tennessee fan gear.

Nope, I hadn't heard that about San Jose's mayor. I bet people were pissed. They did what they were told was the responsible thing, then the person who was preaching it's the responsible thing is found to have ... just done whatever the fuck they wanted?!?

:lm:

Scandal is in the eye of the beholder.

Not the worst thing but high-profile people shouldn't be doing the "Do as I say, not as I do" thing.

Oh, yeah. And then they're trying to spin it that it was a "personal" gathering, not public.
We are going to redraw the line between what is personal and what is public because that line has become blurred.
-Jim Reed, Mayor Liccardo’s Chief of Staff

Oh, and his family :airquotes: all wore masks and ate outside, socially distanced during the family dinner.

Yeah, I'm one of those who people who, once someone has lied about one thing, I'm not likely to buy much of anything they say, so I find the bit about how everyone wore masks and ate outside, socially distanced during the dinner dubious, at best.

Gotta nice Oatmeal Creme Brulee Porter.

🤮
I like a good, basic porter, but those are getting extremely hard to find these days. Everything is all coffee this and maple vanilla that. I bought some Breckenridge Vanilla Porter before turkey day but it's WEAK. Drank more like a lager than a porter style.

Best one I ever had was by a Vermont brewer called Catamount, which is no longer in business (bought out by Harpoon). Next best one was Blackhook, made by Red Hook, but they discontinued it for a long time. When they finally brought it back, it was also weak, like a dark lager. If I want a black lager, I know where to get some. GOOD ones, at that.

Is it TOO much to ask for, to get a porter that tastes like a porter?

Thanks, Biden.

I felt the same way when Red Hook brought back Blackhook. I was all "you USED me, Red Hook!"

My wife got to liking Johnnie Walker and orange juice. So after a long time not drinking, she wants to go out and get some of it.

Just about to buy the Red when we spot this and have to get it instead.

Pretty sure it's mostly Red under this new label.

I don't know what a real porter is supposed to taste like, but I really enjoy Founder's.

Also- I'm being a fucko rn. Somebody scheduled a meeting to sync calendars at 2:30 but I blocked my calendar from 1-3 and she sent a note saying that this was the time that looked good for most people. Well, my boss is the highest ranking of this group so have fun trying to schedule it without me there. As soon as I hit decline, they'll have to set another meeting :heh:

I got some for my mom last year. It's not like the Red, but not exactly a good whiskey either. You buy it for the bottle, which is a magic color-change-O thing. She liked that aspect of it, at least.

This is the thing, brewers have fiddled with the recipe so much, what they're putting out nowadays is closer to either Imperial Stouts or it's just a heavier version of a dark lager with a bunch of weird flavorings. Everybody wants to come out with the wildest combination of adjuncts, and some of them are horrible as a result.

And I know this will be unpopular, but I can't stand Founder's porter. It's more of a stout to me, and I don't care for the flavor profile.

Anchor Steam has been making their porter since the 70's, it's probably the only thing left that's close to the original style. I can sometimes find it over here, but not often.
