How long will it take for our housing market to crash with all these "mass exoduses from california" i'm hearing about? Not trying to wish for anyone else's misfortune for me to benefit, but I mean... if they WANT to leave and housing prices go down...

Its not only the exodus, its the millions of people and small businesses that can't pay house and business rents, etc.

Its also the hundreds of thousands of landlords unable to get paid, or to pay their mortgages.

Dis gun b ugly.

I know we could sell our house here and buy a McMansion elsewhere, but I just wouldn't wanna live in a place like Texas. Also, while I'm still working, I know I won't get paid as much anywhere else for the same job I do here, so I'd basically be in the same position.
Kind of the reason I'm waiting to see where we are (my company) after June 2021. That's how long we're supposed to be WFH and we've been told that as long as it doesn't create legal/tax problems (i.e., moving to another country), we can work remotely from anywhere. If I get the green light to WFH permanently, I could move somewhere cheap with low/no income taxes and still keep my current salary.

Then I'mma buy those 40 acres and the mule next to the milkshake's house and feed his dog & kids marshmallows & jolt cola all day.

For your sake, I'm sorry to say it, but I'm not so sure it will.
I'm hearing about the same thing, and yet inventory remains really low, which is part of what is driving up the prices.
If it does happen, I hope you can get in. As far as wishing for other's misfortune, if it happens and if it's at all like the last crash, it will recover pretty quickly. Within a couple/few years after the last crash, all the value my house lost had recovered and surpassed what it had been.

I get all butthurt when I look at the tax/sales history for property around here. Always like, "DANG! Why can't I buy this million dollar house at it's $350k price tag from 2008??"
