So what's everyone been up to? Have a nice holiday? New Year? I'm currently spending it in strict quarantine, as I have become a statistic. Started feeling a little sniffly leading up to Christmas, but was thinking (hoping) it was just a result of too much running around and I was getting burned out. Last Tuesday, it hit. Felt like a moderate flu - body aches, more sniffles, a little coughing and a fever (101.3 was the highest) so I had a test done that day. I've pretty much been in bed for a week, except to take the dog out. I only had the one day of bad-ish symptoms, but I've been ridiculously tired and I battle insomnia, so it's not been a lot of fun. Drugs only work for a few hours and I still keep getting low-grade fevers every once in awhile. The nurse said to feed the furnace, but I don't really have an appetite, so it's a piece of candy two or three times a day and lots of water & tea. My boss doesn't want me working, but I'm fucking bored out of my gourd, so I'm just cleaning up email & shit. Happy New Year!

Any idea where/how you caught it?

I'm dreading when this time comes. 1) I'll miss the kids like crazy. 2) I'm not ready to move on to that phase of life (maybe I will be if their teen years turn difficult?)
yeah, I thought I was ready, but I guess I really wasn't. It wasn't so bad with the first 2 because they went to school locally and stayed with us. But it's different with this one. We miss him incredibly, but of course we're proud of the man he is becoming.

I'm finding it's definitely hard to let go as a parent.

I'm assuming my uncle, who also tested positive before I did. I was literally around him for like, half an hour though. But nobody else that was around him got it, so who knows. Luck of the draw, i suppose.

How about taste and sense of smell?
So far, so good there. Had a little blockage in my nose and senses were a little dulled, but never fully disappeared.

On the bright side, you've lost a few pounds, eh?

Our daughter is a junior, so we only have a couple more years. But, she keeps saying she doesn't want to attend college (I know, I felt the same way at her age) or that if she does go, she will probably attend locally so she can stay at home.

The boy is in 8th grade so we have four more years, but he talks about going to school out of state. He likes the idea of going somewhere like MIT or some school that's got a good sciences program

ha, I get it. The one I'm talking about here skipped college for a year after HS. He said he wanted to "take time to find himself." I thought WTF , but he was/is such a good student and such a responsible person for his age we just went with it. Now he's back in school and doing as well as he ever did.

Just let her find her way. Takes a bit longer for some is all...sure did for me.

Glad you're on the mend. Don't be surprised if the uneasy sleep and fatigue last awhile. Usually, those are the symptoms that linger the longest when recovering from a virus. I have a coworker that "recovered" almost a month ago and he said he's still getting weird night sweats and just doesn't have his normal energy.

Took the "gap year" route? I can see the benefit of it for the more responsible young people.

:noidea: All I wear is pajamas so I don't know if anything fits different. Tits still feel the same and that's usually where I lose/gain first.

Yeah, she'll eventually get there, just like I did. When I was in high school I heard so many times from my extended family that I would be one of the first grandkids to go to college. They were even picking careers for me. I got so sick of it that I didn't even apply to colleges my senior year. After graduation I went out and got a job, but it only took a year of that before I realized that work was for chumps, so I found a school.

I was still the first grandkid to graduate from college, but not the last.

I was anything but a responsible young person.
I finished high school early (although not by the traditional route), and did a semester of college when I was 17.
I did well, but I hated it.
I took a few years.
I'm not saying I would recommend that route for everyone, maybe not even most, but by the time I did go to college, it was because I really wanted to be there. There's no way I would have done as well as I did had I not taken the time I did.

I should probably start taking my daily vitamin more religiously. Thank god my little muttley doesn't need to go on mile-long walks because I probably couldn't do it. In addition to the fatigue, I still have achiness in my joints. I feel a hundred years old sometimes! I want a massage so bad :bawling:

I'm glad to hear it didn't manifest itself in scary ways with you!
