That would make it easier for her to finish eating that entire cake.

lulz

So apparently, there hasn't been any real benchmarking on this new "work from anywhere" idea that's been making the rounds. we had a meeting on it yesterday and as I suspected, CFO nearly had a coronary when he was told that CA law (and most states we do business in) says we have to pay for employee travel if they choose to work remotely. Number crunchers said that even if only 10% of our peeps choose the fully remote option and have to come into the office 1x a quarter on the company dime, it will be upwards of $1mm/year.

Probably not a good idea for me to suggest he fly coach instead of 1st/biz and stay at the Marriott instead of the Four Seasons to reduce travel costs?

But think of the better productivity, the reduced costs of operating office space, and freedom from unnecessary exposure to toxic employees, admins, and managers.

Oh, i'm totally for letting people work where they want to and was fully supportive of travel being on your own dime if you decide to move out of the area. But we can't just make up our own rules. Sissy laws are throwing a wrench in the issue once again. I think the solution should be that everyone can work "hybrid" ("fully remote" is the trigger for "travel" vs. "commute") and then the requirement is that you don't have to come to the office unless you want to, then it's on your dime.

And wtf, science?? I finally finished spray painting the stupid planters and went to do a coat of the glaze stuff on one and it made the spray paint all cracked and bubbly! :gaah: FML. I had to drive all the way to Palo Alto for the goddamn planters and didn't get any extras.

I have mixed feelings on that. If I'm required to drive in Cali traffic, I should be paid for the risks.

Or you could move closer/take public transportation. Stop being so fragile.

The blue guy created a space on Titan for the crazy-as-shit guy, and somehow, moxie got stuck in a periodic loop there and back. The few minutes she spends there interrupts her normal aging cycle. So, her physical condition doesn’t resemble her count of calendar earth years. She will seem younger, even as she outlives our children. It’s a curse as much as a blessing.
