Even if it means going slower

It’s a status thing. And to be fair, I really only do interstate driving for trips. I really don’t have much traffic at all in my day to day life, if anyone holds me up to and from work, it’s usually a chicken truck, and you can usually pass em on the first dotted line

LOL...one of my friends here is from India, and he said the streets in New York are getting to be almost as bad as Calcutta with the cars, trucks, buses, bikes, motorcycles, and e-bikes. The only thing we're missing is the elephants
God damn bike and scooter people. If they ride on the sidewalk it's dangerous (and illegal) and if they ride on the street it can be a hassle to get around them. People laugh at bike lanes but there's a clear difference around here in stretches that have them vs. those that don't. And that doesn't even get into that ones who think because they're on a bike they can run stop signs/red lights.

Atlanta is some of the worst in the country. It's like none of them passed their drivers test on the first go-round.
It’s bad. You spit on the road and half these fuckers forget how to drive

This also reminds me of a guy I went to grad school with who unironically asked a girl frim India if they rode elephants to school. Guy was so sheltered he became the definition of foot-in-mouth.

A couple of years ago, my family went on a cruise to Alaska. My wife was legitimately surprised not to see igloos. I still give her shit about that.

Really, having to drive through Atlanta so often pulling that drill was one of the big reasons I was looking to get out of it. Fuckers do not understand the concept of stopping distance for heavy loads. The new dickhead they hired that I had to report to was the final straw, but the travel and driving wasn’t worth getting to blow shit up either

I’ve been through Atlanta in rush hour. Every other big city that I’ve been to has nothing for traffic in comparison. Charlotte, Raleigh, St Louis, Kansas City, Nashville, Birmingham, New Orleans, Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa and Miami were nothing compared to Atlanta traffic.
Agreed. But Houston and DC are conspicuously absent from your list.

I'd live there in a second. Hell, I even liked Yuma when we were there for a month.
I have to go to Chandler a few times a year for work and I just can't get past the 100+ temps at 11pm part. I'd have to learn how to sleep in a swimming pool.

DC is underratedly bad. Thankfully they put in those EZ Pass express lanes, but once you get past that it's rough. Actually most of Virginia between DC and Norfolk is. Last time I did I joked the real reason it took the Union army so long to get from Washington to Richmond was the traffic between them.

Last time I was through, I thought it was the best I'd ever seen. My memories of the ATL growing up was constant road work with no end in sight. It seems they've made some progress?
It’s not really the roadwork, it’s a product of the city only having like 500,000 people with a metro of over 6 million. The Braves moving to the north side of town is the best thing they’ve ever done. So much easier to get to than Turner Field, and the attendance numbers reflect that

Living in Temecula for 15 yrs, I love it.

I've told this story before...

I was in Phoenix checking out of a hotel one morning about 7:30am and as the lady is finishing up my paperwork, I see across the street a bank sign that says it's 7:33am and it's already 97F.

I thought I'd be funny and casually asked "have you heard if it's going to be hot today?"

She looks up slightly confused and says "not that I've heard."

I'm headed to Phoenix for the first time next April. I tried to schedule it so that it wasn't in the summer, at least

I couldn’t do that hot early in the morning. It gets hit here during the summer, but it’s still relatively cool in the mornings during the summer

I wish they wouldn't use the bike lanes, but it's legal for them. They still dont stop at lights, and they go the wrong way up one way streets, and they constantly ride the sidewalks if it'll get them around the traffic. The worst part is the noiseless ones will suddenly appear right beside you without any warning.

Yeah, several years back, after not having driven in Atlanta for years, I was told, "oh, the traffic there is so bad, and the drivers are horrible," and I scoffed at them, thinking, yeah, well, you haven't driven in Bay Area traffic.

Then I drove in Atlanta.
I didn't scoff anymore.
