hi @Camfantasy ...wait he isn't our Auburn fan... who the hell is the Auburn fan around these parts
Jesus fuck.

Well, hopefully they dug a big enough hole to fit the dad.

Two things - why are all these food threads being bumped? Was there a memo I missed? I don't have anything good to eat in the house and everyone's making me feel like I need to go to the store for beef ribs, eggs, tater tots, onion rings, burritos and hot sauce.

Second: @fordman84 's sig - did he actually say that? in public? wtf kind of gestapo shit is that? dang.

Does he expect us to just post our dick pics in the general forum and tag you?

Dude isn’t thinking shit through.

We've reached the sending shirtless selfies part of the training.

Is that before or after the part where they tell you, oh, btw, sidling up to your female supervisor, giving her the once over, then asking you if you can pull her ponytail is probably not the best idea, especially if you're so new you don't even know the woman's name, especially if your defenses are:

1. I thought we were friends (can't be much of a friendship if you don't even know her fucking name).
2. Wow, things sure are different, these days (yes, that's the real issue).

I haven't seen the food threads, yet (only 'cause I haven't looked around, although I did notice a Waffle House thread on the front page before I navigated to this thread), but I'm going to make my first soup of the season. I'd happily share with you. It's just going to be a vegetable soup, but I make pretty good vegetable soup (the secret is a fuckton of parsley ... and I don't like parsley, but for some reason it really makes the stock of a vegetable soup extra good).

I have to figure out a consistently good stock recipe. I don't want it to taste like a box/can but that last one I made with the parsnips was so sweet. Learned my lesson, but dang. I love a good soup!

As an employer, I don’t put much stock in recommendations (because they’re not going to give you one that is going to say something bad), but I’d see it as a major red flag if they had to reach back nine years to get one.

Agreed. Why aren't there people closer to his current situation? Fuck that mess.

This goddamn dog has me trained!
The only way she'll stfu is if I'm petting her. As soon as I stop, she starts barking and growling about them again!

My grandmother made the best stock.
I use everything she did (which is where I learned about the parsley), except for the soup bone.
It's still good, but it doesn't have the same depth of flavor without the soup bone.

She'd just take a big ol' thing of water, add the soup bone, a bunch of parsley, then chunks of potato (russet with the skin on), carrot, celery, onion, and turnip. She'd cook it on a slow simmer until the chunks of vegetables were falling apart, strain out everything, then put in the fridge overnight. She'd freeze for another time what she didn't use for whatever soup.

To kind of make up for the lack of soup bone, I cheat and add low sodium better than bullion vegetable stock. I use the low sodium just because it makes it taste better, imo. I got it once by accident - wasn't paying attention to anything but the fact it said "vegetable." I haven't gotten the regular kind since.

Rain today! Sheets of it. First measurable rain in 4 months, and Mother Nature wants to make it all up in one fell swoop.

This also means the end of the fire season.
