His name is Darbie. He's 3, so he's about a year older than Jinks.

I had been thinking about getting a friend for her for quite a while. I had been looking online and saw Darbie's picture on the local Humane Society website a little over 3 months ago. I have been checking the site a couple of times a week to see changes in what was available and kept coming back to Darbie.

Checked again Friday morning, he was still there (and now their longest term resident), so I decided to go get him.

It's been fun watching them figure it out. He really wants to be friends, but Jinks has been making him earn it. For most of the first couple of days any time he got anywhere near her, she would hiss, growl and chase him away (he spent a good amount of time hiding under the couch with her not letting him out). lol

She started to thaw some yesterday afternoon. She allowed him to get within a couple of feet of her and he was rolling around trying to be sweet as he could be...she would watch for a couple of minutes and then just walk away. She also started following him wherever he went and would just watch him. Then, if he got too close, she'd hiss and growl, but not every time...keeping him on his toes, I guess.

This morning they've actually done a little play chasing. So, he's starting to win her over a bit. She also hasn't hissed at him since yesterday. It's funny watching them because she's a good bit smaller than he is. He weighs a little over 10 lbs. (I don't think she even weighs 5 lbs.) but she has definitely let him know who's in charge.

He also watches tv. lol

That's AWESOME!! We have a GREAT NO-Kill shelter in my area and when my MonaLisa passed (Feb 2021), come that September, I finally checked on the shelter's website to see what "felines" were available. There weren't many at that time because of "plandemic", many people had scooped most of them up.

Kittens are always in demand but I saw an older one (about 7yrs) that had been there for awhile. I just decided, I wasn't getting any younger either, so I grabbed her (Elsa) while I could. She deserved a chance too. She's been awesome! TOTALLY taken over the place!! :headbanger:

As @ukfanfrombirth(cali cat) mentioned, adult cats have a harder time at getting picked. So that's KOOL you decided on an older cat to help your Jinks to achieve "complete domination" of your household! BEWARE!! :nod: :dhd:

Went downstairs earlier to get lunch for the boss and I. Just now, he went to the restroom then came back and started putting his plate & utensils on the tray. This is a big deal because I normally clean up after him like a maid. Then he started taking the tray to the dumping area!! I’m like- “just leave it, I’ll take it.” And he’s like, “no, no- it’s fine. I can do it.” We have a little “no u” over it and finally I give in and say, “okay- more steps for the day!” And he stops at the end of the aisle because he realized he didn’t have his phone to count his steps. So he balances the tray on top of the cube wall, which is what? 2” wide?

Now class-can we all guess what happened when dumdum let the tray go to walk back to his desk?

I remember when you adopted Elsa and how awesome I thought it was you adopted a kitty that age.

It really is amazing - once a kitten, even if they're still well under a year old, gets closer to the size of a cat - it usually takes them so much longer to find a home. At 3 months, they tend to find homes pretty quickly. By 6-8 months, they're big enough it usually takes a lot longer.

Why do they do that?
Sure, they get out of being asked for help but do they realize how women laugh at them and mock them for it ... and do they realize sometimes we ask just so we can laugh at them and mock them when they make fools of themselves?!? :heh:
 
I've never seen tassels hanging at bottom of tube sock filled with a tangerine
