My mother uses her dishwasher to store shit, and looks down on those who use them.![]()

I used to be that way... handwashing is also very soothing/calming to me. But then I kept hearing about how running a dishwasher saves more water than handwashing, so I try to get it full and use it instead. I feel pretty guilty when I waste water for some reason.I certainly don't use mine to store shit, but I went so long without a dishwasher, even though I have one in this house, I usually forget to use it.
Until I bought this house, the last time I lived some place with a dishwasher was when I was a teenager and still living at my mama's house.
I'll go for months not using it, then for some reason it will occur to me, "wait, you have a dishwasher ... why the hell are you washing all these dishes by hand." I use it a couple of times, then forget about it again for months. I find it particularly strange, because it isn't as though the dishwasher isn't right there ... it's not hiding, or anything.
Everything by hand, and then into the dishwasher if applicable.I used to be that way... handwashing is also very soothing/calming to me. I'm also kind of a liar because I have A LOT of kitchen stuff that can't go into the dishwasher, so i'm wasting water all the time by doing two loads of dishes - one by hand, one by machine. I always say that in my next life, I hope I'm one of those people that doesn't care about kitchen stuff and will use any old pots & pans and utensils that don't require special care.

And this, too. I use gloves so I can use super hot water, but I want it SCALDING!this

That and the machine alone doesn't get all the crud off. Some shit you've just gotta scrub if you want it clean.I wash dishes by hand..... then put them in the dishwasher. I dont feel like i get the water hot enough to kill all the bacteria.
When I go to Wheeling, I'll be staying near that little island on the Ohio Border with the casino and racetrack. Might have to check it out even though I don't gambleCasino night

Sounds like the opposite of my grandma. She's got an Alexa and all kinds of smart shit in the house hooked up to it, while I don't even have one and my parents only use theirs for music for the granddaughters.BWAH
My grandma was the opposite. Her kids finally bought her a microwave some time in the mid 80's, but she never used it. It was convenient when us grandkids came over and wanted to heat up a snack, but I don't think he ever used it herself.
Never been there but I know what you're talking about. I've heard it's pretty good, I see ads for it all the time. When I go to Wheeling, I'll be staying near that little island on the Ohio Border with the casino and racetrack. Might have to check it out even though I don't gamble
Oh, I thought of you yesterday... there's a martial arts place in a nearby strip mall that put one of those white tents with the plastic window that the restaurants are using so the kids could do their karate chops outside, socially distanced. Thought that was pretty smart of them.
I'm getting all these responses to the email that got sent out detailing what everyone should expect when the DoJang is allowed to reopen.
I swear, about 90% of them merit no response other than ...

The HOA pays for water here... maybe they should get rid of all the fountains and ponds instead of charging $500/month for dues.I'd guess it's because we've been so trained out here to conserve water whenever we can.
I'm usually really good about that.
I do have to acknowledge, though, that I'm so fucking annoyed by all the fees they've tacked on to my water bill over the last few years, my commitment to conserving has taken a hit. I'm still really good about conserving the water I use inside, but I've let up on how hard I try to conserve water outside. I mean, I just got my latest water bill. I only used 3ccfs. The bill was still about $90. If I'm still gonna have a bill that high when I'm hardly using any water, I may as well use a bit more and have happy plants!
Of course, the next time we have to ration, I'll be a good girl and do that, but in the meantime, the water district can go fuck itself.

I'm constantly telling the wife and kids that they have to wash the dishes first before putting them in the dishwasher. The kids will at least get grossed out when they pull a dirty bowl from the "Clean" dishwasher, but Kitchen Lady don't care. That and the machine alone doesn't get all the crud off. Some shit you've just gotta scrub if you want it clean.

There's supposed to be a really cool old suspension bridge leading from the WV side. Gonna talk a walk across that if the weather's not too chillyNever been there but I know what you're talking about. I've heard it's pretty good, I see ads for it all the time.
I also just HATE leaving dirty dishes around. Like will clean then before eating hate. All those years working in kitchens and having parents who got on us about chores actually paid off for something.I'm constantly telling the wife and kids that they have to wash the dishes first before putting them in the dishwasher. In fact, I'm starting to think Kitchen Lady isn't the best description of her
