If you get one, there's no need to bother buying that red shit sold as hummingbird food.
Just make simple syrup.
The ratio is 4:1. If I remember correctly, and it's been several years, I'd do 2 cups of water to a half cup sugar, and it was just a about the perfect amount to fill the feeder.

I actually use 3 cups water/1cup sugar so it's like meth to them. I watch them dogfight over the feeder every day. One time I had 4 darting at each other.

No need, at least at my old place.
I'd make it the way I said, and every night I'd have the feeder full, with others hovering waiting for their turn ... and the more aggressive ones not waiting, but running off others. I think the most I ever saw at one time was 9.

Youre in a different climate. We dont have as many here, but my neighbor is always like," i dont have hardly any at my feeders" cuz youre a cheap fuck Lonnie, and you skrimp on the sugar.

It was awesome!!!
I've never put one out at this place because it's damn near overrun with hummingbirds (if there really can be such a thing). Maybe if I'd brought the feeder to this house I would have put it out, but I decided to leave it for the people who bought my old place.

I take the feeder down every week to clean and sterilize it.

Have to use a q-tip to clean the access points.

To think of it, that's the only reason I buy sugar.

Hummingbirds are awesome. Have a couple of hummingbird feeders. Last year one built a nest in a tree I have in a planter on the front porch. It was pretty cool watching the whole process from eggs to baby hummingbirds to them being gone.

I wish they were big enough to grill.

Din't you claim you've been in the Army?

Most folx I have known over the years in that community have been fng 'camping' ... whether they liked it or not.

TFOH
Yeah, I was in the Army. I would call that in-volunteering camping. Basic training, advanced training and when we went into the field in Germany. It's disgusting.
