This is an annoying practice that a lot of these manufacturers seem to engage in. Newer models come out that aren't as good as the older ones, but hey, "it's bigger/has more memory!"

This is why I have stayed away from iPhones or more expensive androids. They all stop working after a few years, when they stop supporting updates. I had read that the Pixel will update for at least the next two years, and the iPhone SE will update for 4-5 years. That's a huge selling point for me, because I don't like switching phones every other year.

Pixels get 3 years of android updates. You get 3 years of the newest version of Android on the day it's released (Samsung is terrible at updating and sometimes a new version of Android will be almost out before they update to the last one).....You also get a monthly update usually around the 5th that updates bugs/security and sometimes even adds new "googly" software features like call screening/transcriptions, car crash detection, etc.

Just saw that they expect the 5a to drop in early June. If it stays around the $350 mark I might consider getting one. That is, if my current phone lasts that long. I have the same model as my wife's and I'm wondering when mine is going to start its death spiral

Yea I think somewhere around late may or early June is when the A lines come out. The regular pixels are like October. The As get really high marks from reviewers for the money. I've never owned one but I think they are perfect for your non "power" user. I know you don't care much about the photography aspect but you won't find a better point and shoot camera from any manufacturer at that price point.

I think dole has a 3a.

Apple is STILL updating iPhone 6s. I'm liking the iPhones these days, especially for their long term updates and generally quality builds. Better than most of the Android phones out there.

My first iPhone was a 6s, then an 8 and just got the 12 Pro Max last month. I really like it. Yeah, it's $1200, but that works out to $100/mo per year and I pizz away more than that for bar tabs over the weekend. :drink:

IF I wanted to, I could pretty much run my Internet-based biz for most things from it. But I'd rather use my PC and MBPro for most biz stuff, though...

That's what's scary about these new phones. Everything is on it: Your money, your work, your finances, your records, contacts, email, notes, pictures, etc.

And you just mentioned your business?

Just think if someone robbed you of your phone.

They all have their pros and cons. There are plenty of high end Android phones that have comparable build quality as Apple that are in that $900 to $1400 price range.

Some of these big phone manufacturers in China are starting to pass the bigger American and Korean companies as far as technology is concerned. Will be interesting how that drives the American phone market in the future.

Well, they have thousands of spying thieves in all the corporations and universities, so there's that.

Yeah but Lilly from AT&T is like sooooo funny when she advertises it so buy one!

I just sat down to drop a post-lunch deuce at work and had barely placed my ass cheeks on the toilet seat before some douche canoe comes in and sits in the stall right next to me!

Who does that!?
You wouldn't have this problem if you used the Men's room.

I'm a "meh" user. My son has an SE and loves it, daughter has a X. I usually buy cheap models since I don't do a lot of gaming or pictures on mine. Don't wanna spend 300$ and up on something I'll only use for a couple years anyway. But these last cheap ones we got barely lasted a year, so it's time to think about a model that will give us more time but still be affordable.
I wish I didn't need a phone at all. My X lasted less than 2 years before the screen took a shit. I went in last week and sat in the goddamn apple store for over 2 hours while they messed around with it and finally moved everything over to the new phone I had to buy. I went with the 12 pro, but the smallest storage because I've found that I never fill it all, especially now that I've moved my pictures over to google photo. The mini was cute, but I knew I'd get pissy about it and the max is too big for my hands to hold comfortably. I ended up paying ~$800 after the trade-in and I got 6% cash back for putting it on my Apple card. Fuck AT&T... they are not locking me into another of their shitty asshole contracts for 2 years. I needed the option to be able to walk away from them anytime I want.

And because I'm a retard (hey- where's @BigRedMoe been all day? :headscratch:) about numbers, I'll probably get the 13 when it comes out. :L

Speaking of Lily, what a fucking downgrade with the straight hair

I always thought she was hawt and funny (she did that @midnight show a lot a few years ago and was pretty damn funny) and decided to follow her on one of the social media platforms (instagram I think?). She is basically one of those screaming feminist ultra far left cunts like the stereotypes. Super cringe.

Those types of people are almost never worth following on Instagram anyway. You're more than likely going to end up with some bizarro politics/religion/horoscope/general WTFness
