At first I had posted a facepalm in parentheses, but then noticed instead of parentheses, there was a smiley face on either side of the facepalm. I edited it to put the facepalm back in. Now it's just showing up as the word "facepalm."

It's probably because of your spacing. If the : is too close to the ), then it thinks you're trying to make a :) and will override the L part and vicey versey.
