There should be some plywood sheathing behind the shingles. Whats the shelf mounting brackets look like?

It came with some screws. I can't find the actual shelf on-line, but it has two of those hole things built in. It also has unfinished wood shelves on it... is there a specific stain for outdoors i should use or can I just use whatever and then put the sealer stuff on it?

You should be fine if the screws are long enough. Might need a slightly longer screw than what they gave you. Or a more coarse threaded wood screw.
