One of the most disappointing second half’s I can recall. It’s not like when the Braves and Red Sox had terrible Septembers in 2011, the Padres have been bad since the ASB.

The second half of 2012 for the Red Sox was a total shitshow. They didn't get off to the best of starts but they were still 53-51 and only 4 games out of the top Wild Card on July 31. They proceeded to go 16-42 over the final 2+ months.

On the flip side, the A's started 26-35 and went 68-33 over the rest of the season, and overcame a 5 game deficit with 9 games left to win the division

that Braves team still finished 16 games above .500. At this point, I'd be surprised if the Padres finished above .500.

Both the Red Sox and Braves would have been the second wild card anyways had it been in place.

The Padres before the ASB were virtual locks for a WC spot and looked like one of the best teams in baseball, and now they’re out of contention all together

Good. California doesn't deserve more than two playoff teams. I hope the A's move to another state.

A’s probably will move, but I bet it’ll be somewhere in the Bay Area.

Cardinals are gonna eliminate both Cali teams in the playoffs though
