tOfficial SEC Football Thread

@Rolltide94 will tell you it’s because of the elite Qb play. Even tho this is the same Aggie team that scored 17 against vandy.

Shouldn't you be over in the ACC thread telling us how impressive Armstrong is for UVA.

LSU and Florida both lost today.

...and Tennessee and Georgia are playing each other, so one has to lose, life is good.

Im waiting for you to explain how these qbs in the sec are putting up impressive numbers against great defenses.

Outside of a few teams, there are no great defenses in the SEC, they are just better than their ACC counterparts.

Auburn struggling against Arky.
LSU lost Mizzou
Floriduh lost to A&M

I figured the SEC would be between UGA and Bama and they play next week but I think it’s those 2 and then quite a gap. They have easily the two best defenses in the SEC.

Auburn needs to fire Gus.

Why any offensive player let alone quarterback goes to the school is beyond me. You gotta figure chances aren’t high making it the NFL.

Having seen these 3 I would go in order

Tennessee
Arkansas
Auburn

with a bit of daylight between Tennessee and other 2. They just let the moment get away from them. Particularly a mentally fragile QB.

Mizzou impressed a bunch, they probably deserve to be up there with Tennessee. And lot of upward mobility for them.

I have no clue what to make of Ole Miss or LSU. It's going to be a wild season if their defenses are really just that bad and never make adjustments. Put USCe and Kentucky at the bottom of that pile.

Hush your mouth. They should sign him to another 7 year, kajillion dollar contract. He's worth it!!!!

I don't necessarily disagree but 3 former Malzahn QB's are in the NFL and another is coaching in the NFL. Note Nick Marshall isn't playing QB.

My Power Ratings so far

Tier I

1. Georgia
2. Alabama

Tier II

3. Texas A&M
4. Florida

Tier III

5. Auburn
6. Tennessee (Hard to pick between them and Auburn. Tennessee's offense could be better once they see defenses that are not Georgia. Tennessee has a legit defense).
7. Arkansas (This team is a lot better than the last 2 years)
8. South Carolina (this team is good, trust me)

Tier IV

9. LSU (I do think they will eventually figure things out and could move up to the next tier. Too much talent)
10. Ole Miss
11. Kentucky
12. Missouri
13. Mississippi State

Tier V

14. Vanderbilt - They are not good enough to win any of their matchups but I imagine someone lays an egg against them and they finish 1-9.

Somebody start a thread about UF/LSUx. I wanna read others' projections, but don't wanna say shit!

So since my departure from the WVU base my search for my new school & team is goin well. It's been a strange but a good thing so far. I'll have a hat ceremony in February to announce who will be addin this "nice get". I guess i will always have some state loyalty for my homeboys that came from WV (Saban @Bama, Jimbo @A&M, Doc @ Marshall, and wherever RichRod lands next) but If I'm being honest I don't really have a big connection to A&M or Bama historically, respect em both of course, wish Saban and Jimbo well and have watched many of their teams play ect. as a casual fan but just don't have close/stronger connections for different reasons like I do with my contenders. The contenders for different reasons at this time are:

Gator hat.jpg
Power T.jpg
Cocks hat.jpg
UK hat.jpg
Any news (good or bad) , good sites, fan events ect. yall come across please let me know.
Would like to be able to get to a game from time to time so region plays a small part in this choice (southern WV here).

Have enjoyed several Gator teams since the Hall/Emmitt Smith years and really liked the OBC and his teams, loved Tebow.

Been tough at times (see above) but have liked several Vols teams since Majors and Andy Kelly teams, Knoxville is not a bad trip for me either to get to a game.

Have enjoyed Gamecock fans prob more so than their teams through the years (many a free drink/meals bought for me for sporting the WVU gear after that Clemson OB beat down) but have strong family connections in that area and another pretty easy trip to see a game. OBC and Lou two of my favs both coached there and had my attention so..

Have gotten to see UK play on TV alot living where I do and its a reasonable trip to see a game. Stoops has things heading in the right direction imo, but location is prob their biggest advantage as far as my choice here.

Anyway, the recruitment continues, yes I've had invites to some of these bases and TBH it's been kinda cool!

Florida has the largest contingent of rednecks.

South Carolina has the most loyal fanbase but never wins anything.

Kentucky fans are basically the Bama fans of basketball and you don't want to be associated with that.

Since the Titans moved to Tennessee a lot of their problem fans changed their focus cleaning up the population quite a bit. This has made them more tolerable. You still have some unbelievable assholes that like to talk shit with nothing to back it up but I'll admit it could be worse. Knoxville is one of the better SEC hometowns IMO so that's a positive. They also hate Bama as much as Auburn so great marks on that.

I think you have to go Tennessee here as they are the lesser evil.

If I had to rank SEC fans based on experience from worse to best, here they are (interestingly, some of the teams that I hate don't rank that high)

1. Georgia - Obnoxious, entitled, and annoying. When I was at UT, they were by far the worse fan base to visit the school.

2. LSU - They attacked school busses with their drunk fans when UT visited Baton Rogue. They are a drunken version of the Georgia obnoxiousness

3. Auburn - Hate to say this Wild Turkey but you guys are flipping annoying. I lived in Birmingham and had nothing against Auburn. They would start trash talking shit with anyone regardless of their fanbase. They have Alabama penis envy, just saying.

4. Kentucky - You ever been around their basketball fans? Yeah... No explanation needed

5. Tennessee - Yeah, we are annoying. What is bad about our fanbase is the hate for our own team. We constantly second-guess our team decisions.

6. Alabama - For their success, Alabama fans are not that horrible. Still there are many of them that are annoying. The younger fans are the worse.

7. Vandy - Yes they have fans and if you meet them, stay clear. Annoying crybabies. Their entire season rests on whether they can beat UT or not. Sadly, they beat us a lot in the Butch Jones era.

8. Arkansas - Yeah they are pretty annoying. They could be higher on the list.

9. Florida - This fanbase would actually come and tailgate with us when we played them. I cannot stand Florida but their fans are pretty respectful.

Never really met these fans or have enough experience with them to rate them:

Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Miss State, Missouri, South Carolina

Same. I'd rate Vandy as more friendly, but understand why they act-up at UT.

SCar would be in the middle of the list somewhere, IMO. Kentucky has always been terrible - they play dirty as hell and the fans are the Semenholes of the SEC.

If you expand the list outside the conference, FSUx would be 1/2 and Miami would be .000001

How do you feel about the song Sandstorm?

If that annoys you, then going to a SCar game is going to annoy you.

Yeah it is just SEC. I would rate Ohio State, Texas, Michigan fans high on the annoying list. Oregon as well (although never met one in real life, they are definitely the most annoying fans on here). From what I hear, back in the day, no fanbase could compare with Colorado. A lot of horror stories about their fan base.
