To list the reasons... It's probably my least favorite Metropolitan Area I've been to. The actual Twin Cities of Minneapolis/St. Paul are old and gross and the only place I've ever been when I've felt "unsafe" and I've only been back down there once since crime shot up like 400% last year. Witnessed a handful of experiences I've never seen anything remotely close to in any other city. Also, worst drivers in the US.

The weather is the BEST part of the Twin Cities.

I mean, if by "Twin Cities Area" you mean like...Maple Grove... then cool.
 
Gatorchip has been around long enough to know that if douche doesn't like a city, it's probably a good place to live

Assuming I do get the job offer, that is one of the areas I was considering to live. The job isn't in the city proper. Just in the vicinity.

Then that's not so bad. You've probably got a solid 10 years in that area before the garbage spreads up that far North.

I'd caution taking advice from a guy that made a chart of best places to live and ended up in Fargo North Dakota.

Now don't get me wrong, there are parts of Minneapolis and St Paul I wouldn't live in but I've never felt unsafe at anytime and I spend much more time there than Douche. I also only live just down road from North Minneapolis which is the highest crime part of Mpls. Yeah, I've seen homeless people, I've seen drunks on public transit (and worse)....

Maple Grove is fairly wealthy suburb, I find it bland and boring. Shopping centers, chain restaurants, and the "poors" are people who drive 2010 Hondas.

They will of course concede "I know the areas not to go".

Must be awesome to live in a place that it's actually incredibly unsafe, but they "know not to go" there.

i haven't and I've been in those neighborhoods. I've been to many of places that were damaged, looted, etc. I've donated money to rebuild efforts, I was going to volunteer for clean up efforts, but they had a surplus of volunteers.

I cried when city was looted and burned, in my 41 years of living here, that was only time it happened.

I am giving my honest opinion. I love living here and quite frankly am thrilled you don't like it here. I wouldn't live in Fargo, I've been to Fargo, I think it sucks. But if you like it, that's cool

The area that was looted and burned is generally not a dangerous place and one of more diverse areas of Minneapolis. I've shopped at target and liquor store you shared, I've been to several of restaurants now gone, town talk diner, hexagon, etc. I know the area quite well.
