Wife was a gymnast in high school, so she watches. US still won silver by a fair margin, but not having Biles on the floor pretty much killed their chances for a gold.Live look at Team USA’s chances

Yeah. That’s really unfortunate. Biles is so much better than anyone else when she’s at the top of her game they might have pulled it off.
Also probably explains why they fell behind in the first place.
At least she had the sense and coaches’ backing to bow out. If it was Bela Karoli he would have made her push through injured.

We need to stop sending mentally weak people to the Olympics. Yeah it is mentally taxing, that's why not anyone that wants to go can. Between people just quitting because it is mentally difficult or more worried about what pronouns people are using, the olympics are just another joke.

I mean, I agree with this, but Biles was the reigning Olympic, world, and national champ. She's absolutely off her game right now, but it's not like they should have seen this coming or something.
It sucks that she couldn't hold herself together today, but she did the right thing by her team by bowing out and letting other women compete in her spot. Would arguably have been better for her to not even start and bow out from the jump, and maybe they could have gotten a better vault and better floor scores and had a shot at gold, but if she fucked up the vault so bad (she was something like a point and a half below her score in qualifying), she could have completely tanked on bars and cost them a medal completely.

Thats also known as being a quitter in my book.....
Shes suppose to be a role model and teamleader... .
A teamleader goes and plays under any circumstances.....
When you are this so-called goat gymnast,you dont bow out because of issues in the greatest stage of all their careers.....
Some of those girls may never make it back to the Olympics and was their only shot at gold with her being in it........
If she was to think of someone,it should of been her teamates and not her.....
Atleast they all could of said we gave it our best.....

Did you even see her though? She didn’t look right even on practice vault. They talked about on air that It’s extremely dangerous when you lose where you are in air. She could have hurt her team and herself if she had continued. She probably shouldn’t hve done vault
When is saw ALL the events she was lined up for it didn’t make me feel all easy about it. My main thought was physical injury, which made the initial reports make sense.
Mental health….I’m admittedly torn. I have some of the “quitter” mentality, I also have respect for others mental health. What I do think she should have done better is not to sign up and push for so much.
Maybe part of that was pushed on her. This was going to be the bounce back from a rough five years for the national team. And she needed to be part of that. They shouldn’t have pushed so much, and she shouldn’t have volunteered so much.
The problem is no one had anything to prove. Certainly not Biles. But they all felt like they did. She went through all that nonsense, including her own exposure and victim hood to it. Then the pandemic delay one year.
It’s just a lot of shit. I’m sure she had some on her ear with a mental health focus, but she just didn’t listen.
Only plus is she didn’t have a Karoli yelling at her to stay in.
A team silver coming off the last five years is not a travesty. Watch her bounce back and crush some individual medals….and the “quitter” or “not a team player” will only intensify. In such a case she will be explaining this decision for years to come.
And that’s not completely fair, though I get it.
