That sounds fine on the surface, but lets be real: these guys are ultra-competitive and have at least SOME level of big ego, even the back-ups. I have no doubt Gabbert figured this was his big chance late in his career for redemption, to show that he has the ability to lead a group of men who've already achieved a lot, and now that opportunity has been yanked away. Gabbert has been making a king's ransom worth of income (compared to us unwashed masses) for over a decade now, he's not gonna be sitting in that qb meeting room/film room/on the practice field thinking, "ayep, i looooove standing on the sideline giving hand signals to the offensive huddle for 3 hrs every sunday, what an awesome job I have". That's just not realistic.
