Thanks for putting this together. It's pretty apparent that the PAC and SEC get top recruits who bolt for the NBA early.

Syracuse has really fallen off the map in recruiting. It's shocking...

Virginias success is quite remarkable when you look at all this

Pretty crazy. 156 out of 250 went to teams who aren't even ranked at all in the current top 25. 7 of the teams ranked right now haven't has a single top 50 recruit the last 5 years including 3 of the top 8.

Kentucky has 3 more top 50 recruits over the last 5 years than all the national championship teams in that same span combined lol

Yes it is.

Bennett knows how to recruit the right kids and keep them there.

The problem with most programs is if a kid isn't getting PT, he'll bolt. Villanova too, we've had Top 50 guys who play like 8 min a game 1st two years, and they get them to stay. Have no clue how...

Things have started to even out since the shoe scandals

Hmm I wonder why that is

Danny Manning was able to land more top 50 kids in this time span than Jim Boeheim

LOL

Teams rarely win the national championship with a ton of Freshmen. Coaches like Bennett and Wright have found a great balance of talent and experience. Those are the teams that win the title (with the exception of some truly generational talents like Anthony Davis).

Bennett has one of the best systems in college basketball, can make adjustments + routinely signs top 50ish-top 100ish kids.

his 2017 and 2018 classes were busts, that's probably why they are merely very good right now as opposed to being elite.

Great info @duckboy33 . I'd be curious where the top 20 guys are going for 2021 and the last couple of years. I think that's why we are seeing the trend of some of these blueblood programs having down years. While Kentucky and Duke certainly have highly rated FR this season, it's not what it was when UK was enrolling AD, MKG, and Teague. Same with Duke when the enrolled, Winslow, Jones and Okafor in 2014/2015 and Zion, RJ and Reddish in 2018/2019. If you're not getting 3/4 top 15/20 guys it's going to be hard to compete at a high level. Hell even Dukes class with Trent, Carter and Bagley was like 3 top 15 guys I think.

For some reason, I think the last couple of years has been spread out and you're seeing that effect right now at Duke, UK, UNC. And then teams like MSU, and KU haven't been recruiting at a high level at all the last couple of years so you can see why those rostered aren't what they normally are.

B1G is having a ton of attrition this off-season and according to these numbers isn't exactly bringing in high level recruits. Gonna be a down year next year for sure.

Good. Players need to give themselves an opportunity to win a championship. They forfeit that opportunity the moment they sign with a Big Ten school.

Depends. The portal is arguably more important than HS recruiting at this point

If not more it is damn sure getting close. Definitely gives those schools that don't normally attract the top high school talent a fighting chance.

But, from looking at the final four this year, it hasn't completely kicked in yet.

I don’t think it necessarily helps with parity but it definitely makes major programs less aggressive when it comes to recruiting HS guys (particularly ones that aren’t top tier prospects)
