Very literally is. Hence the foul. One of the only sports where you consistently and routinely break the rules to try and gain an advantage. In football you’re allowed to decline the penalty or have clock runoffs to prevent this very thing
 
I didn't think the officiating was a huge factor in the game. Mostly the tone was set early when Cockburn had his way down low. Garza simply couldn't defend him and he couldn't score near the basket regardless of who was defending him.

Illinois is too physical for Iowa and plays with a swagger and talent level Iowa can't match.

Says the " oh msu gets all the calls at home " guy lol. Iowa beat Sparty by 30 in EL btw. Difference is I didn't mock you because you were right to be pissed. That game was awfully officiated. As was the first half today. It was terrible. But you somehow take it personally and pretend it wasn't. Like I said its no skin off my back because my team isn't the one who needs to worry about half their team fouling out in the 2nd round

Fuck sakes man they gave Ayo a black eye, broken nose and face and a concussion — no foul was called on the play. That’s the only time I’ve bitched about refs period. Besides early in the season the refs have their whistle festivals. You’re way off here and emotional after a loss I guess. It’s pretty sad sniveling pathetic is what it is. Quit blaming refs and give props to the defense of Illinois.

Everyone knows Sparty gets calls at home. That’s crazy physical b-ball and Illinois didn’t bring that kind of game today at all. Plenty of more fouls could have been called on both sides.

Sigh... I never said " ipwa would have won if the first half had been called properly " I just said the refs were horseshit the first half and they 100% were . They were much better the second half and Illinois still won the half by 3. Why is it so tough for you to admit you got some bs calls your way and didn't get some fouls called on your team that were obvious fouls?

I gavd props to Illinois multiple times already. Illinois has a great team that I like a lot. Doesn't mean I'm not going to call it shit reffing when it was shit reffing. You're too defensive man . My op wasn't " waaahhh we would've won if not for the refs". It was a simple fact based comment on your guards mugging ours and then getting calls when they drove and quite literally didn't even get touched. Those things happened whether you want to admit it or not. Once again ( for like the 5th time ) props on the win

Thats generally Iowas issue with making deep runs. They will run into a team that will give them fits from that standpoint. Best team you all have had in a while though

Its one thing when there is a balance and you see a big disparity its another when a team outscores you 52 to 24 in the paint. Illinois housed them inside and only had a 4 foul advantage

I didn’t think it was that physical. Certainly not old school bruiser NBA Eastern conf or Lansing physical. Refs set the tone early and they can either call everything or let them play. I thought they were pretty consistent which is what you want imo. Couple make up calls but nothing crazy one sided. Just a fun up and down game. Iowa was bringing up Garza to slow down Ayo on the P&R and that left Kofi open early. Garza is a player but he’s slower than shit. Kofi ain’t quick but he’s developed a few moves.

Was one of the better games I’ve watched all year. Iowa wouldn’t go away

Id agree it wasnt overly physical. Your bitch about Sparty is the same beef ive always had with them. They have been doing this shit for years. Same with Louisville with Pitino and WVU with Huggins. They coach it up.

Hey Izzo and all those guys have earned their stripes don’t get me wrong but it seems like it gets a little out of hand while at home. Home teams should have an advantage but not that kind of advantage. Usually games in March get called pretty balanced. It’s those game early and on into even February sometimes that are like WTF
