It's been like this for a couple years now. Honestly I wish more 1 bid leagues did this. It doesn't matter for Gonzaga because I think they've made the final in the league tournament for 22 years in a row.

Ha I never noticed.

But honestly this is kinda worse for the league. Gonzaga is getting in regardless. I'd rather try and force them to win 1 extra game. This league stinks so they really wouldnt lose, but I'd try and at least give the chance.

Yeah that's true about this league in particular. Gonzaga getting in no matter what. But I'm not surprised the league caters to Gonzaga. As they probably should n

It also helps when you get a bye until the semifinals

Yeah there is some truth to that. But it's not like Gonzaga is losing to the 8/9 seed pretty much ever.

I don't blame the WCC for doing it though. Gonzaga is the cash cow. You lose Gonzaga, I bet BYU thinks about leaving, then you're left with the shell of what you were.

I'm just glad Gonzaga decided to play in this tournament.

The conference tournament setup is silly but I don't really care. I think the smaller conferences should just hold conference championship games between the top 2 teams.

I don't mind these smaller leagues don't everything they can to insure their best team makes the tournament. Especially traditional 1 bid leagues. Gives them as a conference, a better opportunity to make more money. The only downside is we don't get some of the 1 vs 8/9 pairings in those small leagues, which takes a little of the true madness away from it.

I totally get it. I just think they should move away from the tournament model if they are going to have some crazy format like this. WCC should just take the top 4 IMO

Probably to protect Gonzaga from taking bad losses in the last week.

St. Mary's isn't very good this year. Pepperdine vs. BYU is the game to watch. Romar's team has talent and look more like a contender than most teams in the WCC. They split with BYU during the regular season.

Yeah, I don't give St. Mary's any chance, I watched them the other night and they looked pretty bad.

There's no way I can make it through the BYU/Pepperdine game with it starting at Midnight. lol. Hopefully I can get through the 1st half. lol.

I just moved to the East Coast and I'm with you. I have to be up too early to try to make that happen. Especially when you know the winner is likely to get blown out by Gonzaga the next day.
