Tournament Thread - WCC Tournament

I just moved to the East Coast and I'm with you. I have to be up too early to try to make that happen. Especially when you know the winner is likely to get blown out by Gonzaga the next day.

I'm usually good on about 6 hours of sleep or so, so with getting up around 7, going to bed at 1AM, I can usually function the next day pretty well on that. The one good thing about the first round being on Friday/Saturday this year, is I can sleep in Saturday morning. lol.

Pepperdine took BYU into OT but we are getting a BYU vs. Gonzaga finals tonight

That definitely wasnt a way to change my mind that Byu would get absolutely shit stomped in any normal conference.

Zags look really disinterested tonight

Gonzaga better start getting interested again. They won’t be playing Santa Clara’s for much longer

Looks to me like BYU is just beating em.

They're red hot though, expect them to cool down and for it to be a game.

They did a great job breaking the press tho.

BYU is shooting almost 70% from the floor, we played one of our worst halves of the season and are somehow “only” down 12.

Zags play a high tempo game so there are lots of possessions for them to catch up

The D is my question on the Zags . The offebse will be there but pretty much every game they've played this year vs a good team their D gets lit up. I don't really put BYU in that good team category but they're basically taking practice 3s and facing no resistance to get into the lane. I just don't know if you can give up 85-90 4 games in a row in the tourney and win a title even with a truly great offense

They put a lot of on ball pressure because they know most teams in the WCC won’t be able to handle it. It will be interesting to see how they adjust in the NCAAT

I think it's pretty similar to the 2019 Gonzaga team.

It took a dominant defense to beat that team in the tourney. I don't know how many dominant defenses there are this year outside of Baylor. Otherwise, they'll outshoot you.

Yeah and the thing with this Zags team is that along with your really good D, you have to be able to score.

They already eviscerated Virginia because that team simply isnt very good and had to spend the whole game basically playing transition D

Zags being in the double bonus for the rest of this game gonna make it really hard for Byu

Not good UVA or Texas Tech teams this year.

Granted Gonzaga is shooting it well tonight from deep but...

1 flaw imo of this team isnt just the fact that they are a merely average 3pt team. Its that they take unnecessary 3s relative to how they typically shoot it.

I've seen this a few times for them this year. THey can absolutely score at will in the paint. Just keep with that. Dont hoist a contested 3 just because its worth 1 more pt.

BYU has had zero answer on anything at the rim this half.

Of course, Suggs proceeds to close it out with a few bombs haha

BYU had their chances, missed a lot of easy shots in the 2nd half. That and Jalen Suggs took over the game late

Thing is, I don’t think we played all that great in the 2nd half, save for the first and last 4 minutes of the half
