I remember when they grabbed that kid out of michigan and I thought he was going to be a monster. Sounds like depth is about all you'll get from him, but at least he's huge.

It also helps that Derrick Moore and TJ Guy announced their return next year, they were about 50/50. But we need some size in the middle and this is about as good as you can expect out of the portal.

it's all u can help for in the portal era.. have yet to see a difference maker DT enter the portal since it started.. Damonic WIlliams was getting that attention (and payday) last spring.. yet he got out played by the other DT ou picked up earlier (then flipping to UT) in Jermayne Lole... at half the price of what WIlliams got.
 
To me, the portal is three-fold.

1) Developed guys from P5 schools simply looking for an NIL pay raise to transfer.
2) Guys who were physically mature when recruited have peaked in their development and unlikely to ever see a starting spot where they are. "hE WaS a 4 StAr iN HiGh ScHooL tHo"
3) Guys that were overlooked in recruiting and ended up at G5 or FCS schools have now matured to be good players.

There's a big difference in 'when' a 17 - 20 year old matures physically. Some are early and some are late.
 
All 12 programs have lost numerous players, but one school leads the way with 12 departures so far: The Arizona State Sun Devils.

Even with Arizona State preparing for the CFP, they have 12 players on the way out. Here is the entire list, per 247Sports.

Cole Martin will be on his 3rd school in 3 years. Lol. Started at Oregon went to ASU now to UCLA.

Markeston Douglas played 2 years at FSU before transferring to ASU and catching 1 pass for 3 years. Now back to FSU again

Kamari Wilson same thing but with Florida, played 2 years there, now 1 at ASU and now on to a 3rd school. Had 6 tackles on the year

Laterrance Welch played 2 years at LSU before ASU, will be on to his 3rd school

J'Mond Tapp played 2 years at Texas, record zero stats with ASU this year and will be on to his 3rd school

The rest are pretty much freshmen who got no playing time this year.

Not exactly any massive loss here
