okay. srs question...
in countries where they drive on the wrong side of the road, do their manual transmission cars shift gears the same direction that we do (left to right) or do they do that backwards, too (right to left)?

:what:

I googled that but started getting a headache so I back out.

Sorry ma'am, you're on your own with this one.

OK... So I took an 800 mg Ibuprofen and got back to it.

The shift pattern is the same whether the steering wheel is on the right or left.

"In all cars, for example, the gears are shifted the same way, i.e. first gear is always top left"

"Shifting and Pedals

If your RHD car is a manual, you may find that when you start driving it, your brain will want to flip the shift pattern horizontally in your mind, putting first where third is and so on. This isn’t how it works.

Thankfully, shift patterns are the same, and pedal arrangement is the same. Yes, it’s a little weird moving the lever to the opposite side of the car to get into first instead of pulling the lever close to your knee, but you’ll get used to it.

I know you’re shifting with a hand you’re not used to shifting with, but, in my experience, the motions are simple enough that you’ll do fine even if it’s your non-dominant hand. You’re just pulling and pushing a ball on a stick.

Just be prepared for a couple luggy starts in third gear before your brain adapts.

I start thinking about having to shift with my (non-dominant) left hand and the idea of going left to right feels so "off". What a total mindfuck!

Oh, shit! And the clutch, too!

I better stick to uber/lyft

Are you planning to become a postal carrier in the US or sumptin?

My postal carrier's steering wheel in on the right so they can access my mailbox which is out on the country road.

I'm glad both Canada and Mexico drive on the right. It was Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand that threw me for a loop. Almost killed a bunch of people especially when it came time to turn at an intersection. Add to that the fucking roundabouts....

Can you just rent a automatic

Are you new here? I can do whatever I want.

I was stationed in West Berlin, Germany for a few years, but luckily the vast majority of Europe drives on the right so everything was the same.
When I went to Britain (drive on left) I used taxis or public transportation.

I mentioned that to her, but like all women she didn't listen.
Oh, i listened. Listened to you being a retard and not listening to wtf I asked in the first place!
