I swear, kids here are in school until the middle of fucking June.
We were always out not long after Derby Day.
I realized, with the idiotic half days once a week, which is what they do around here, every two weeks adds a day to the end of the year.
No wonder they're in school until summer is already half over (they start back really early, too).
 
During Back-to-School sales which begin in June, I try to buy all my office supplies for the next year.

Ya, it's bullshit. They're not out til the 7th, and it's been progressively later every year. I think I saw next year is not til the 13th er some shit? It's particularly frustrating here, in that our summers are already short.

I know there are certain "children must attend x-number of hours of classes," but within those parameters, you'd think they'd prioritize what is easiet/works best for the greatest number of parents. In at least many places, both parents work at least part-time, so a half day in the middle of the week has always seemed a needless pain in the ass to me (and all my friends who are working parents around here). They'd far rather have more time in the summer - whether to go on vacation, or so the kids have a real summer (like we used to), or just because the half days are such a pain in the ass for their work schedules.

Yup. Wednesday is the worst day of the school week by far.

That @moxie, she's so down to earth and humble and not a material snob. I've asked her twice to open a registry for her birthday present and she refuses to do so.

What a saint.

I think she wants us to donate to an animal or rescue shelter instead.

We need more people like her here to make it a better place.
