I've yet to watch any of the movies. When the Sting one came out, I heard you could only watch it while high, and I wasn't in to drugs.

Seen the movies haven't read any of the books. The 1984 film has much more depth than the current one.
The original movie has more depth? Shirley you can't be serious.

Everything in Part Two is covered in little more than a half hour in the original. And the battle scenes involving the worms were really cheesy. I still appreciate the original movie for what it tried to do. And Lynch has stated that he lost control over the final cut, and it ended up not being the movie he wanted to make.

Moreover, Dune 2022-2024 leaves out why the spice was so valuable - that through the Guild it enabled interstellar travel and why the transfer of Arrakis from the Harkonins to the Atreides gave the Guild shit fits.

Therefore, Dune 2022-2024 will forever be known as the GenZ version - ignoring significant facts, treating them as though they don't exist.

Do what??? That's the whole story!

The Sting? As in Redford and Newman?

When I'm president verbal abuse towards phone solicitors will be encouraged.
Okay, but if you really want my vote, you'll promise to carpet bomb phone solicitors without mercy.

I was going to say death threats but this is acceptable.

Make me your phone solicitor & scammers czar. I'll need about five hundred 2,000 lb bombs, 6 boxes of rubber bands and half a tube of Astroglide, per month.

If you want the solicitors and scammers gone, I'll need a few more things...

Hey @Dolemite censored , how much of the Dune series have you read? I'm 400 pages in to the fifth book. It started out terrible but has gotten interesting
Just to butt in here... I've read all 6 of Frank Herbert's Dune series. They are LONG reads but I enjoyed them.

Dune (1965)
Dune Messiah (1969)
Children of Dune (1976)
God Emperor of Dune (1981)
Heretics of Dune (1984)
Chapterhouse: Dune (1985)

The Dune movies haven't impressed me, mainly because there's too much detail left out to make the movie remotely conform to the books. Frank Herbert was very detailed in his books. It's why I liked them.

Same with Isaac Asimov's Foundation series. Books were great but the movies didn't live up to expectations.

It's not left out. It's just that's more an exposition dump. All the stuff about spice, etc is there. They do leave The Guild out tho.

Yeah, he's very long-winded. Sometimes I'm frustrated by all the details because it seems like the story isn't going anywhere.

I read the first book in high school and hated it. Re-read it this year and then decided to do the whole series. Have to see where it winds up now.

Love Asimov. I've read the Foundation series and all the robot books. Have not watched any of the films based on his books.
